nocostporn 08-31-2002 10:56 AM

those fools have been out for like 10 years..why are they just now getting recognition from you people? hmmm bandwagon fans maybe?... I don't know the music therefore I won't comment on how shitty they probably are lol

Fletch XXX 08-31-2002 10:58 AM

The Swedish hardcore band Refused was formed in 1991 by vocalist Denni Lyxzén, guitarists Jon Brännström and Kristofer Steen, bassist Magnus Höggren and drummer David Sandström. Debuting in 1993 with the EP This Is the New Deal, the group issued the full-length This Just Might Be...the Truth later that same year. The Everlasting EP followed in 1994, and in 1995 Refused returned with another EP, Refused Loves Randy. After 1996's Fan the Flames of Discontent, they issued the EP Rather Be Dead; in the wake of completing 1998's The Shape of Punk to Come, Refused disbanded, unable to reconcile their anarchist leanings with a career in music. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

MrPopup 08-31-2002 11:02 AM

Okay maybe you guys know about this type of music but I don't...so I'm gonna give you the details and you can tell me if its true.

Front Line Assembly. A band. Gave a performance in Germany. I met a guy who went over there to DJ for them and his first night in, the lead singer quit. In front of 40,000 right wing teenagers they convinced the DJ to go on in the lead singers place. They shaved his head and he did it.

Is this true? Anybody know? Have I been conned?!?

[Labret] 08-31-2002 11:03 AM

Are you trying to say FLA are nazis?

MrPopup 08-31-2002 11:06 AM

But they raise a good point. I always thought it was bogus when those fucksticks BARENAKED LADIES were "discovered" by the American Pop Music Industry about three years past their expiration date in Canada.

Fucking Barenaked Ladies. If I had a million dollars I'd make sure they never sang again.

So are the Wildhearts and backyard babies...(wildhearts were here before GNR)

Devin Townsend was playing guitar on tour with Steve Vai at 19.

Wildhearts are bigger than Iggy Pop in Japan.(where METAL and ROCK NEVER DIE)

Backyard babies, dude they are huge, just not in the US.

Which is cool because these bands come and play small as clubs here and we get to kick it with them because here they are nothing, but in Japan they cant walk down the street without Lil Sailor Suit teeny Jap girls throwing pussy at em...

;)

Evil Chris 08-31-2002 02:54 PM

yeah but didn't Cheap Trick have that going on for them back in the mid to late 70s?
They had a certain level of success in north america, but it was their Japanese success that got them noticed here...

kmanrox 08-31-2002 02:56 PM

you think the hives rule, apprently you've never had the CLAP!

All music is bigger in Japan bro.

Every band from the US who has major deals releases specuial versions for the Japanese, usually with extra tracks.

Yeah Cheap trick crept in mid late seventies...

But Iggy Pops Raw Power was recorded in 1972/73

That Album is what set off the whole thing....

Theres a band that lives a few streets over.... known throughout the US though.... tour extensively with "Toilet Boys"

Their name comes from line one of Raw Power in the track 1 "Search And Destroy."

The line is "Im a street walkin cheetah."

Of course the band name is "Street Walking Cheetahs."

Killer rock music,.

Steve 08-31-2002 03:01 PM

Andy Edmund (formerly of SexTracker) looks a lot like Iggy Pop

Fletch XXX 08-31-2002 03:04 PM

Lets not forget the spawning of MC5 in 69 from the hardcore city of Detroit man, this rock is what started Punk dude.

MC5
Iggy & The Stooges

Hives just playing their parts. (pawns)

The Kings already in place.

You keep saying that, but I still think TINC is the better band... Refused was more like punk/metal - their music was heavier and the vocals just screams of rage/anger/despair. TINC is more melodic, they have groovier basslines, and he actually sings this time around (even when he does scream, it's not nearly as annoying).

I like the Hives & The Strokes. Those guys have been trying to get some success for a lotta years now. I respect their persistance. The White Stripes are some kids that got lucky. I'm not so sure about them.

Out of all of them I expect the most from The Strokes. They have that all so important 'Potential Rock God' aura.
