Bad time for California street racers
|
350-horsepower engine
Hoang said he was caught late last year racing his prized car, on which he spent at least $10,000 to get into top shape. The 350-horsepower engine topped out at 160 mph, Hoang said, swearing it could beat a Corvette or even a Ferrari. No, ass clown, a Corvette would fucking destroy your shit box. |
They really need to get their fucking priorities right.

We have a old Opel Ascona with a 4 cyl 318hp engine, last week here in sweden we outran a MB AMG SL55, several Corvette C6, two Ferrari 360. But we did get beaten by other cars. The Ferrari 430 and the koenigsegg + most the skylines and supra's kicked our ass Weight and power delivery is more important than pure gruntforce |
looks to me like they might have crushed them because they had hot parts on them. either way why not sell the cars and make $ off them instead of crushing them?

i do appreciate a clean, well-tuned import..but i'm soooo sick of people that have a beat up civic or integra with an exhaust on it, and think they are hot shit. the sound that these cars make is so awful!!

or when they just namedrop when you ask when they have done to their car, showing no clue what so ever what its all about. |
i thought posession was 9 10th's of the law and if you can prove you paid for it, its legal? i know that sounds naive, but a friend got caught with a stolen bike, he showed he paid for it and was allowed to keep it.
i wholeheartedly agree that they should do this to the cars of drunk drivers though. |
the worst is when they soup it up and then dont put good tires on it, roll the car around a corner and kill one of your friends inside.
if you cant grab the road properly, the rest is all worthless. |

thing i hate about tuner cars, especially japanese for the most part, no matter how much you crank out of them, they always feel flimsy and weak against the road at speed.
not saying they won't go fast, i just never feel as comfortable when compared to cruisin around in a car built to go fast from the beginning. |
In the US, when found guilty of a crime, we are jailed or fined - or both.
Paris Hilton gets two DUIs, then gets caught driving without a license, and they didn't crush her car. Does this mean if they catch me smoking pot in my house.... that they'll burn my house to the ground? |

it all depends on how you build it. put a good suspension in it, and a few other odds and ends to increse rigidity and it can feel quite nice. or you could just skip the honda and go straight to an Evo or STi and not have to worry about adding stiffness. ;) |

:1orglaugh that is an incredibly poignant analogy. |
|
That's pretty stupid, they should seize the car, take it apart and auction off the parts, at least they would make a few bucks that way...

Bring back the Terminal Island drag strip. Quote:
The same reason they dump guns off the barge instead of reselling them. They want them off the streets. |
I can't stand those damn street racers.. like any adult wants to deal with a bunch of dumbass kids working out their hormonal issues by fantasizing about Mario Andretti on the PCH.
Highways are for getting from point A to point B alive and well, and back again. You have no right putting the welfare of everyone else on the road at risk just because you happen to be a moron who watched 'Fast and Furious' too many times and you're too young to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. |
thats right...get these kids out of the car hobby & back where they belong, selling dope! good job california!

street racing is dumb but c'mon. crushing the car? that's horse shit. Why not do that shit to drunk drivers? There's LOTS more of them then there are of street racers.
and baddog, modding a car isnt' a crime. |
Be safe, and take your rides to the track. Timeslips seperate you from the wannabes.

I never was into street racing, but love modding my cars, love showing them off and doing shows, and loooooove taking runs on track nights with the local clubs... Having to deal with more and more tickets because you've modded sux :2 cents: |

Crushing the cars is a waste. Auction off the parts. But coming down hard on street racers is a good thing. Racers kill people. Doing 160mph on 50 mph speed limit roads is stupid. If they really want to race there has to be a better way to do it, like renting out a venue. Yeah, it costs money but these are the type of guys that spend their life savings customizing their rides anyway.

no matter how 'well-tuned' those cars are - they're still driving a piece of shit :2 cents: |

personally, I think vettes are shit boxes since I like luxury cars. So a turbo on a vette (especially Z06) would make it a very, VERY fast shit box :) |

The ATI kits you can pretty much slap on. Supras don't count int he shit box class, because at least they're real sportscars as opposed to grocery getters suped up. :2 cents: |
