Led Zeppelin is not touring

They have said many times in the past that they would never and could never replace John Bonham. So end of story. It was just a bad rumour that somehow made it around the world.

Miss Tera 06-28-2007 09:55 AM

You just popped my bubble, guess I should do my own research, off I go!

Jman 06-28-2007 09:56 AM

Jason could tour with them, I say never say never ;-)

No doubt there are an ample number of qualified drummers who could fill John's shoes, but I suspect that Led Zeppelin are the kind of guys who stick to their word and also probably would not want to alter the original lineup.

Forest 06-28-2007 10:07 AM

The word I heard was they were NOT touring but were going to play one show some memorial for the founder of Atlantic records with jason as the drummer

Unless you've got a definitive source, link, etc, your post is pure speculation.

At least what I posted was based on a news article that was aired yesterday on classic rock radio. They specifically said there will be a concert in England, and could very likely be a tour afterwards.

It wasn't 100% definitive in saying there WOULD be a tour, but it did indicate there was hope.

Bandmembers said that thing about not replacing Bonham 25 years ago. If they are playing one concert then it may very well be true there are more in the works.

Hey, I was sitting here listening to the radio yesterday while I worked, I know what I heard.

Well, my claim comes mostly based on what I know to be a direct quote from the surviving members of Led Zeppelin. However if you insist on a link for "proof" that these claims were just idle speculation and do not trust me then here you go:

Link here

I'm surprised that you would take information that you have heard on the radio to be the absolute truth, even when you knew about the quote.

1 - I didn't say that what the Led Zeppelin members said is speculation, what I said was that you saying "there will be no tour" IS pure opinion and speculation unless you have proof, which you don't. Nowhere does it say right now, today, that there will be no reunion ever.

2 - I never said anywhere that I took the information I heard on the radio to be the absolute truth. In fact in the way I worded my posts I left plenty of room for error and clearly said that at this point I have no link and that it is only a possibility. I merely repeated what the person (who is well-connected within the classic rock community I might add) reported yesterday. This isn't something from two decades ago that was said, it was said yesterday.

Let's at least keep what facts we do have straight. :2 cents:

Edit: I wanted to add that I emailed the DJ earlier, and requested his source of information. I'll also email him the above link you provided and see what he says.

Cool, maybe they want to keep the rumours under wraps before everything is finalized. But if I were a betting mad, I would bet that they are neither playing one show or a series of concerts.

I say this because Led Zep was never known as a live band and they are only getting older coupled with the obvious fact that they said they would never play again.

You know? Seriously!
Come on, who better to fill Bonzo's shoes than his own son?
He played with them at Live Aid, so wtf!

Chester D. 06-28-2007 11:32 AM

They are way better on record than live anyway so don't worry about it either way.

They reunited for Live Aid and for Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary. There is little doubt in my mind if there is a tribute concert to Ahmet Ertegun planned they will be there.

Never known as a live band? Led Zeppelin was known as THE live band.

Oh no, that is sad :(
