MPAA Sues Peekvid

This is where it gets interesting. This is the same bullshit as the torrent sites saying "we are only an index". It will be interesting to see how this one runs out... and if AFF's lawyers will pay attention to the end result.

Nice.... Given the biz model of all those sites is based on stolen content, it should be a good one to watch.

I think this is maybe the first real solid "poke" at copyright violating Web2.0 companies. A very interesting case.

I heard he is also their lawyer so they will beat the MPAA easy.

This one goes down to the same level as the thugs on the streetcorners that hustle you to buy drugs, and when you want some, they take you to the place to buy it. They don't sell you the drugs themselves, but they are a key part of the drug sales process.

These sites for me are no different, they aid and simply access to illegally distributed content. They specifically exist to "bypass" copyright laws, which means in reality they are part of a conspiracy to distribute copyrighted material, even if they aren't the ones doing the actual distribution.

I think the MPAA has a slam dunk on this one - and it's civil not criminal, so they don't even have to prove much beyond what is clear on the surface.

this should be a good one to watch.
