Smart Thumbs
just a heads up
Smart Thumbs has been updated because of security problems |
" A special thanks to the Swiftwill Hosting Team for their tireless effort in deciphering this attack and helping us to secure our servers and code.
Swiftwill users can upgrade if they choose to, but they are already protected so no further steps are necessary." This is why I love Swiftwill. They are always looking out for not only their customers but also the entire industry. They seek out the exploits most hosts don't give two shits about and save the end user of software like Smart Thumbs countless dollars. Thanks Dweeks. I know you busted your ass finding the problem out more than anyone could ever realize. - Brent |
true
I notice alot of people say Swiftwill have the best security team I think next time i nead some hosting i might go with them |

Smart Thumbs sucks, I started using Comus Thumbs and my life changed, I have two healthy sons now, my hair started growing and I have erections again. Thank you Comus Thumbs!

Hes fixed so many major scripts and never once boasted. His company is low key and its entire marketing strategy is simply word of mouth. He hosts some of the biggest sites out there. A very big host who cares about each of his clients like a mom and pop operation. I'm glad I host with Swiftwill.
Cheers Duke |

I'm going on 5 years of Swiftwill use, and I laugh when I hear and read about people's trouble with their hosts. Switch to Swiftwill, kick up your feet, and NEVER worry about your shit going down |

Ahhh shiiit, I just woke up, how do I update it?
|
ahhhh yes the fantastic team at Swiftwill - Dweeks, Tristan, Michael, Ross, Dan, Troy, Matt, John and the list of professionalism continues to grow faster than I can keep up with. I too cannot say enough about Swiftwill and after hosting with them since 2003, I can go to bed at night and sleep soundly knowing that Dweeks and the crew are always sleeping with one eye open (I swear they do this).
BTW Nifield Dweeks sleeps in one hour bursts lol..... naaaa seriously now that Dweeks has surrounded himself with a talented crew he now leads nearly a normal life hanging out with family, friends and yes I believe he now sleeps for more than an hour at a time. Our hats are off to the entire team and even more so to Dweeks, Tristan and Michael who's tireless efforts for several years have made the company what it is today. We would be lost without Swiftwill and their security :thumbsup |

Yes, they have been very helpful and i feel a long term relationship coming between us (Smart scripts) and Swiftwill.. :thumbsup |
I have to agree. We deal with several different web hosts every day and have for years.
We've seen all different levels of security. The only way I know to make a server more secure than a Swiftwill server is to unplug it. :) They also found one of the two possible security issues ever found relating to Strongbox over the years. Pretty darn good customer service, too. I should mention that high security systems may take a little getting used to if you're accustomed to more typically run systems, but it's worth it if it keeeps your site from being hacked, and Swiftwill's support does a good job of helping with any transistion issues. |
swiftwill is the best non advertised hosting company that doesnt beg for clients.
|
thats some good news right there. thanks for letting us know

Well said Ray. No question they are a bit more hands on than other hosts but with their ever increasing support staff its never an issue and knowing that my sites are secure and running is worth the extra step or two required sometimes. |
I wonder if swiftwill would be willing to help the smart thumbs guys come up with some documentation for their script that isn't written in broken English. I'd definitely use swiftwill then. :D

I can tell you that we looked and looked for some good manual writer.. we never found one :-( |

If you want to email me your documentation at [email protected] I could show it to a friend of mine who has a communications degree, and possibly give you an idea on the cost to re-write it? |

As a longtime Swiftwill client all I can say is, with so many years of ease of mind - I know they have me covered. I don't understand server problems, being down, coming to GFY to bitch about it - cuz I've never had to. Customer Service is important - in this industry it's VITAL - SwiftWill.com not only has it, but their entire reputation & systems are built on that.
I'm very proud of Swiftwill for their good deed... With that much security, clients who want peace of mind, stay forever. I've been down once because I put some code to take my server down :1orglaugh - a few minutes later - they called me to ask what I had uploaded a few seconds before I took it all down :) Here's a story that I will repeat just to show you how customer centric they are: A few weeks ago...mmm...I forgot to renew a paysite domain *ok got confused with all the registerfly/enom/moniker transfers and renewals* Anyhow...I was away and on the date that it came due and the domain expired, I was flying back to Montreal. So I get off the plane and see 3 messages on my phone but didn't bother to listen thinking it was the airline confirming flight times and stuff like that. I get home and turn on the computer - ICQ/email/phone message to warn me that my domain expired and their servers warned them that there was a sudden decline in traffic. Besides me being retarded and forgetting to renew, how many of you have hosts that would do all that on a Sunday morning/afternoon to make sure someone doesn't jack your domain?? All I know of is one & I wouldn't change Swiftwill for the world. Oh and the comment about their site (althought I know it wasn't meant to offend them) - yeah it's an antique by now LMAO but judging from the people they host, I'd venture to say that they based their decision on security, service, knowledge, ease of mind and not their fancy-dancy designer's capabilities :thumbsup |

I minored in English and would be happy to rewrite the documentation for you. I might have some trouble writing documentation for something that I don't fully understand but I'm sure we could figure something out. |
Swiftwill is an awesome host.. :) There has not been any security problems ever since i've been there.. Which is great, no headaches..
|
Dweeks is the most annoying person I know - every time we install a new script he has to read the complete source and find some exploit or just something which he don't like and then he has to fix it himself...and I mean EVERYTIME and EVERY script we have he has made some customization to!
YET we have been there for over 6 years, NEVER had a major security problem and the rewrites/fixes I talked about above saved us numerous times, we just moved a lot of our servers from Boston to NYC and they did everything for us without any problems?and we?re talking NATS, MAS etc? I could continue about the staff and especially how not only Dweeks but the whole swiftwill crew have been there when we needed them, even though we're on EU time, but I think most is already said So bottomline must be, that we can DEFINATELY recommend Swiftwill too - top notch! |
Another happy customer of swiftwill for over 2 years. I have 3 dedicated servers with them for my network of tgps and everything runs smooth and secured.
In my 8 years in the biz, swiftwill is the only hosting company that so far has really given me zero downtime in 2 years, incredible support beyond their standard duties, and the best security on the top of that. Tristan and Dweeks are always available in ICQ (and i'm in Euro time) instead of doing what most of the companies do with the damn ticket systems that are answered like a week too late. I guess this kind of incredible support is thanks to their non advertisement politics. They take mainly big customers and not cheap guys with virtual accounts that are usually who take 90% of the support time and pay just some $ per month. Huge thumbs up for Swiftwill. |
