Inconvenient Truth - Did you change anything you do?
Pretty amazing stuff. Seems like I could buy some lightbulbs and maybe make a few other changes in my life. What is really nuts is where I live almost no one drives a gas car so we have to be way down on the contribution list.
Another thing was that we had solved the ozone issue. I did not know that. |
this movie is a bunch of horse shit
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1655856/posts http://capitolhillcoffeehouse.com/mo...d=A453_0_1_0_M gore wont debate any experts on the issue, and he was even offered $20,000 to debate it http://www.spiked-online.com/index.p.../article/3533/ |
How can you debate it seriously?

Yep, I changed out all my lightbulbs.

That movie further underscored the value of statistics in fooling people into believing whatever the fuck you want to try and make them believe.

I changed out all my light bulbs and set my temp a little warmer in the summer and a little colder in the winter. My next house will have geothermal heating/cooling and probably solar panels as well
|
yes.... i decided that i'd never buy another DVD that has Al Gore in it..
|
Who cares if you believe in global warming or not. Compact flourescent bulbs save you MONEY on energy. Isn't that enough convincing?

Avoid breaking fluorescent lamp tubes. Fluorescent tubes contain elemental mercury mixed with powder. Crushing tubes creates mercury vapor which is difficult to contain. If you do break a lamp, try to avoid breathing the vapor that is released. Carefully sweep up the lamp, place in a plastic bag and place in a 5-gallon container with a lid. Dispose at a Household Hazardous Waste collection facility. Because fluorescent lamps contain mercury, it is illegal to put spent lamps in the garbage or trash. When lamps are broken or disposed in the wrong places, they can release mercury, posing a threat to human health and the environment. |
Well, I stopped using 8 plys of toilet paper and then got a shitty hand. So now I use 12 just to be sure.

I also have not seen anyone refute that Greenland is melting more. They simply discuss how high the water is rising and how rapidly... So something is happening it is more of a call on how bad is it. |
I find it hard to believe that a thinking person would avoid replacing their wasteful lightbulbs on the position that when they have to throw away a dead CFL, it might add mercury to the landfill. Robbing peter to pay paul.
You're also not supposed to throw out dead batteries either because they leak toxic chemicals and metals. I wonder how many toss them in the garbage. 99%? |
I decided to vote Republican next time.
|
changed out th elightbulbs, no longer use paper plates/cups, driving less(about 200miles less a month).
Next car i get i would like to average 30mpg or better |

Sure the movie is a bit sensationalist but that is normally needed to get people interested in a subject (doesn't matter if it's left, right or middle of the political scale, they all do that) |
Having still never seen the movie, myself - I find the ignorance in this thread rather disturbing.
It's even to the point that it's boastful. Whether or not you agree that we're the cause of it, the Earth is warming, peeps. And I, for one, tend to think that all this shit we keep shovelling into the atmosphere (perhaps counpounded by the rate that we're deforesting the Earth) has to have some negative effects - whether they're as dramatic as portrayed by Mr. Gore, or not. You don't need to give into any hype - simply take an afternoon and go to the science section of your local library, and check out the data acquired over the last 50 years for yourself. :2 cents: |
Yes. I decided to use 10 times the amount of energy than the average citizen, and build several large houses to live in. I also decided when promoting a movie, that I will still use private Jets to travel, even though it creates a giant carbon footprint. But, I will continue to ask you little people to change your lightbulbs and walk to work. Wait, that's Al Gore. As for me, I changed my lightbulbs and stopped wiping myself effectively. :thumbsup

WTF??? Like the person above me said. The facts are that we are heating up.
Is Al Gore a great guy? Who cares it was information that he gave out. Did he skew it or misrepresent some things? No clue but the over all message was clear. Back to "would you hit it?" and "should I spend 250k on the next Ferrari?" threads. |
|
Al Gore is a money grubbing liar and all of this global warming hysteria is just that - hysteria. It's all over-hyped and is mostly nothing but fear mongering. Al Gore is only in it for the money.
If you do watch Al Gore's "documentary" make sure you also watch The Great Global Warming Swindle. Best line from that movie, and the bottom line: "CO2 is irrelevant". Also be sure to pay attention to the research being done by Henrik Svensmark of the Danish Space Research Institute. His research basically shows that our climate is controlled by cosmic rays and the sun. Cosmic rays blamed for global warming The Chilling Stars: The New Theory of Climate Change |
i use it as an excuse as to why i dont drive...hahah
