Do you really want one of these? look at the cost Comparison.

This quick and dirty spreadsheet indicates the total cost of iPhone ownership over a 24 month contract, excluding likely extras such as accessories and hidden charges. ....... Here is the whole article http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2007/0...-total-co.html

How accurate could those stats really be though??? They aren't even taking into consideration how many turtlenecks an iPhone owner will likely purchase each year...playtime.

Sosa 06-26-2007 06:06 PM

heh most things aren't good when you look how much it actually ends up costing you

Fresh 06-26-2007 06:10 PM

not too bad compared to other smartphones

notabook 06-26-2007 06:15 PM

Chart is full of shit... doesn't even take into consideration the number of Tall Mocha Lattes that the iPhone user will undoubtedly be drinking while he types away at some gay blog about how cool his iPhone is.

=^..^= 06-26-2007 06:17 PM

BAH!!! thats nothing - americans complain too much about "expensive" shit is...

in australia any DECENT phone is gonna cost you at LEAST 1500+ just for the handset after that add the 2 year contract...

And according to an AT&T rep I spoke to today, you can't port your current phone number to your new Iphone, you must get a new phone number. I am way over due for a new phone, and it looks like I will get the BB curve instead. $199.00 right now from At&T.

That's pretty stupid. you need a phone plan anyway, so how does switching to an iphone cost you extra $60+/month?

american pervert 06-26-2007 06:40 PM

yeah so? my cel bill is about $250 a month

american pervert 06-26-2007 06:41 PM

btw, happy bday krosh!!!

starpimps 06-26-2007 06:51 PM

yeah the price u have to pay to be kewl

Probono 06-26-2007 07:08 PM

And what make this more expensive than any other phone of it's type?

V_RocKs 06-26-2007 07:59 PM

My current plan....
$225 a month x 24 months = $5400 and covers me and my entire family...

C H R I S 06-26-2007 08:12 PM

same price as a trio or pocket PC plan. Phone price is just a bit higher.

hezochiah 06-26-2007 08:27 PM

Here's a good article I stumbled onto earlier. Basically says that the plans aren't that expensive relatively speaking...

That's assuming that the battery will last you 2 years, or that it'll be covered under warranty for that long! :1orglaugh

Nicky 06-26-2007 09:22 PM

I pay 50 bucks a month for my new cell-phone and that mostly covers the ring/sms fee's too, sometimes it's ~70 but usually 50, dont need more....

But the iPhone seems cool though :)

alwaysex 06-26-2007 09:35 PM

its good

DaddyHalbucks 06-26-2007 09:51 PM

It's a mistake to buy any v1.0 product.

GrouchyAdmin 06-26-2007 10:05 PM

$6,000 is a small price to pay to be pretentious. :thumbsup

D 06-26-2007 10:19 PM

That doesn't take into account the dough you'll save on blowjobs from hookers by simply flashing your leet phone in front of all the superfly ladies.

The rep you spoke to was wrong... You can switch your phone number to the AT&T plan.

As for the chart.. I mean your paying for a minute plan no matter what cellphone service your using or what phone you buy. $59 for 450 minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile and *unlimited* data, is reasonable.. You factor out the cost of any phone based on what you pay for service over two years and its going to make you say WTF. I dont get it.

I ended up with two cellphones - gave both of them away to people who had more use for them.

Don't call me, I'll call you - if I ever want anything :) Screw novelty crap!

drjones 06-26-2007 10:33 PM

Look at the comparisons... iPhone is cheaper or about the same TCO as many other smartphone options...

It doesn't really matter--cause it's funny. I love Apple and I think so.

where can you get unlimited data and 450 min. with AT&T for $59.95?

truth is this is the first time the telephone companies are happy that they do not have to reduce the price of the handset to gain a customer. They are finally able to turn a profit rather than subsidize the cost. :2 cents:

If you factor the cost of a phone with service over 2 years and factor in the subsidized cost, you will come out ahead a minimum of $275 :pimp

Mr Pheer 06-27-2007 12:14 AM

I have one of those Razor cellphones but I never carry it with me and I cant even remember my own cell #, so I have absolutely no use for this iphone thingy.

swampthing 06-27-2007 08:48 AM

If i see you at a show, and you have an iphone, dont be surprised if i luagh at you.

tony286 06-27-2007 08:52 AM

You cant consider the monthly plan the over all cost of the phone, like you wouldnt with your home phone.

smack 06-27-2007 08:55 AM

eh, my blackberry costs almost that much.

of course my blackberry actually does useful things.

That is what the starting plan in your chart offers. 450 Minutes, unlimited mobile 2 mobile, and unlimited data.

Engadget did a good comparison, breaking down TCO for many different smartphones and plans. iPhone compares really well.

Jesus I need to stop posting in iPhone threads :helpme

StuartD 06-27-2007 09:01 AM

I have no cell phone.... costs me exactly $0.

LovaCams 06-27-2007 09:04 AM
