Contacts - how the hell do you get em in?

i just got contacts for the first time today..

whenever i try and get them in, i keep blinking and the contacts fly out of my hand...

if the contact comes anywhere near my pupil my eyelids close no matter how hard i try to hold em open

i heard that if you touch your eyes with your finger, your eyes will get used to it and you wont blink that easily.. so now i can touch the white part with no problems, but the brown of my eye is untouchable still :) (are they supposed to be touched?)

ive tried so many times to get the contacts in.. whats the best way to do it?

just glue them on your eye :stoned

I've never been able to wear the things myself.... even if I wanted to.... I got *special* eyes they tell me.... unable to even custom cut contacts to work for me.... but yeah, my ex-wife used to wear them, and she had no problems touching her eyeballs.... freaky shit to me though...

Have you tried staples? :winkwink: Actually I think I heard somewhere that if you use your own saliva (If your mouth is clean, that is) as a lubricant for your contacts your eyes seem to accept them a little bit better... I wouldn't try it until someone else confirms that it's true, like I said it's only something I "Heard"

Took me 20 minutes to my contacts in the first time I got them and at least 10 minutes to get them both out.

To put them in you need to use your left hand to hold your upper eyelid and use your middle finger on your right hand to hold the bottom eyelid.
Have the contact on your index figer (right hand) and it works.

Its very difficult to get them in if you don't hold your eyelids open.
I wouldn't suggest spitting on them either - if you want them moist use the contact solution.

where do i put my fingers?

wash your hands in sink with water

put that eye solution on fingers andthe lens to make sure therr is no dust etc

get the lens on your index finger the right way and so that the center of it is on your finger and edges are sticking out into air not folded over or all on its side...

open your eye wide staring at the mirror

touch the edges to your eye and put it right on the center
if u do it gently u wont quite have to touch your eye

its sort of liek making the lens suction on to yer eye

once its in blink a few times or put a drop or 2 of eye drops in and let it center

Pull the skin above your eye up and the skin below your eye down. Notice you cannot blink.
This is a good time to put on the contact.

My dad does that all the time, so it must work.

I've been wearing contacts for almost two years, you get used to it pretty quickly. Plus, the uncomfortable feeling is very much worth the benefits of contacts. I love them!

Try looking up and setting the contact on your eye, which would actually be the lower part. Then blink and look down. If it still isn't on right, try to move the contact to the right spot with your fingers. Just touch the whites of your eyes since you're already used to it.

You'll get used to it in no time.
