Boot from CD - Toshiba Satellite - HELP! :)

Anyone know how to boot from a CD on a Toshiba Satellite 5205?!? Not even their tech support could tell me. Neither ESC, DEL, C, nor any F-keys will give me a boot from CD option or enter Bios. F8 gives me the option to boot into safe mode, which now doesn't even work. HELP!

Wow, weird. I just restored my friends laptop this weekend with the exact same problem. Must be a similar virus? Couldn't get the laptop to do shit. It is a Gateway.

I picked up a drive case, pulled out the hd, put it in the case, copied everything, pop the drive back into the laptop, restored everything and copied files back. Pain in the ass but nothing else was working...

Yeah, that obviously isn't happening with mine. Yours must already have the BIOS' boot sequence ordered to boot first from CD if a disk is present.

I've already got the data backed up. I'd be happy with just being able to boot to a Windows CD and format/reinstall.

See if you can get a "stuck key error" by just pressing and holding down a random key while powering on.

Usually when that happens you get a prompt asking you to press f1 or some other key to continue, as well as a prompt for whatever key enters the bios

Thanks. Actually by luck, I just figured it out. Evidently, the correct combination was holding F12 while powering on, then entering a boot password, then navigating a graphical display. Weird computer.
