I got into an argument with some idiot over the weekend who was trying to tell me that I was an idiot for thinking that we are mammals and that we are not.

We're mammals. Perhaps the person got confused with our vestigial characteristics like the embryonic tale?

Also lately, there has been a lot of interest in studying the 95% of human DNA classified as "Junk DNA" which may or may not end up showing more vestigial characteristics that could lead scientists to classify us more precisely as marine mammals.
