I hate that song. Not because it is a terrible song but because of a personal situation. My brother's wife cheated on him last year around thanksgiving. They separated and were heading for divorce. My brother wanted to keep the holidays as normal as possible for their 3 kids so we had a typical family get together for thanksgiving. We are watching football and the girl that sings that song is the halftime show. As she sings, my brother's wife gets up and dances with her mom and they both start singing the song and talking about how they love it.

It seemed pretty hypocritical that a cheater loved a song about revenge against a cheater. From that day the song has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Carrie Underwood sure got that song into major power rotation.

Fuck, can't go anywhere these days without hearing it (heard it in the grocery store this morning, in fact).

Makes me think of that Dixie Chicks song "Goodbye Earl" (where the girls dispose of the abusive husband).

What's sad is, I know a girl who lives and dies by that song. She even went as far as to set the hood of a guys car on fire cuz she thought he was cheating. Funnier yet... she was crying and whining about not understanding why he called the cops, had her arrested and a restraining order on her.
