Holland isn't a country.

average incomes arent indicative of anything. do a search on 'the bill gates effect'+average+income..
Hence the Aussie average is ~US$22k but id guess 80-90% of Australians are on less than US$16k ..

actually.. US$17k is the MEDIAN wage.. so prolly 47% earn less than US$16k

if you earn over US$28k you're in the top 20% of money earners
if over $US42k, the top 5%

I don't know where Bhutocracy got his, but these figures seem to bear out his position. They are in AU$.

bhutocracy 08-30-2002 02:47 AM

around when the GST was introduced there was a lot of fanfare about who exactly was "rich" and who was "poor" and a raft of figures to accompany it.. thats why people that earn over AU$50k have to pay the medicare levy - because being in the top 20% they're designated as "rich".
it may have changed 1k either way in that time but the median was AU$31k and the average was AU$39k.

Did you know that more than 1 billion people live on 1 USD per day or even less?

Also here is a nice list of GDP per capita:

Average income in Holland is $24K a year, so $2k a month. Less than in the US, where it's $36k a year. On the other hand, the US have 12.7% of the people living below the poverty line, while in Holland that is 1.2%.

I'm an 18 year old programmer in Australia, and I get SHIT. Bout US$10k/year :(

To make 1 signup a day on porn sites (I'm not started yet) would be a fuckin dream :winkwink:

Chris R 08-30-2002 08:20 AM

Income PER PERSON is different than PER HOUSEHOLD.

In the US - average income per person (I assume 18 and older - don't want the two year olds to screw up the averages - lazy babies) is about 23K

Average HouseHold Income for 2000 breaks down like this:
10th percentile upper limit . . 10,600
20th percentile upper limit . . 17,950
50th (median) . . . . . . . . . . . . . 42,148
80th percentile upper limit . . 81,960
90th percentile upper limit . . 111,602
95th percentile lower limit. . . 145,526
