How to know website stat!

Hi,
I started a WP blog in dreamhost and want to know how many raw/unique visitors everyday, where are they from.
I'm using WP-ShortStat but it does not have many options.
Anyone know another method to know website stat, pls let me know. Plugin for WP or individual script in hosting is ok.
Thanks.

No stats package with your hosting account?

I'd be surprised if your host didn't provide a stat program, but if not, two decent quick stat programs that offer invisible counters are...

I would recommend google.com/analytics (sorry can't post links yet) ... lots of functionality and free :)

If your web hosting provider doesn't provide you with at least a very basic stats program like AWStats (which he can get for free) then he really probably isn't a good web host and you might want to start looking around for a better one because down the line who knows what else he might forget to provide you with, like server stability or even worse, billing issues.

I've had a guy who once charged me 3 times a month instead of just once and when I tried and tried and tried to work it out over a year to get it all fixed, he ended up selling out to a big web hosting company who actually thought I had a bill that big and then I was really screwed. Long story short, web hosting companies that suck aren't worth messing around with. There are just far to many of them out there who can give you what you need / want. Ask around just on this board alone and no doubt you'll find 10 very qualified companies.

As for stats, no remotely hosted stat program is 100% accurate. I found most to be 25 to 50% off but if you must use one, I found Google Analytics to be the most accurate, with only a random 10 to 25% offness for my unique visitor count.
