Interesting

"But the military base and ships were not immediately placed on alert, which would have prepared the United States for the ensuing attacks. "

Amputate Your Head 08-29-2002 09:35 PM

doesn't really matter... them jap bastards were gonna attack anyway.... they were already in motion.

Krome 08-29-2002 09:40 PM

I would not trust a Jap as far as I could through him...actually they are all little dudes so I could probably chuck one quite far....

CDSmith 08-29-2002 09:41 PM

And they (the japs) had been in motion for several days, the plan was in the works for several weeks to attack the US. So one of their little sneaking spy subs got caught and sunk before-hand, so what?

Doesn't change a thing.

Amputate Your Head 08-29-2002 09:42 PM

not only that, but they give mini-van drivers a really bad name....

(not that mini-van drivers actually have a good name to begin with)

The US Command in Honolulu ignored the radar reports of the incoming bombers and fighters as well. Dismissed as improbable considering radar was a new and unproven technology. (First actual 'wartime' use) We watched a documentary on it several years ago. If they had listened they may have saved alot of lives. :(

CDSmith 08-29-2002 09:47 PM

I just watched the movie 2 nights ago. Powerful stuff.

Tippy toe when you say that! :1orglaugh

The sub led four other Japanese midget submarines to Pearl Harbor before the Sunday morning attack by Japanese planes that lasted two hours......

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Not quite sure what's funny about midget subs ... that's what they were. Two man crew, two torpedos, launched from a larger submarine.

Should they have called it a mini-sub?
:D

It's surprising that most people don't know this.

Lose the Japanese accent and that just about sums up the driving attitude of most Americans as well
:winkwink:

Yes, and if they had mentioned the shoot out under water lives would have been saved. It happened an hour or so before the bombing..
