Is it just me, or does every vma performance require a post.

redshift 08-29-2002 08:20 PM

Brown Bear 08-29-2002 08:21 PM

Amputate Your Head 08-29-2002 08:21 PM

GNR has sucked since 1988 dude. I bet you listen to RATT too....

marty 08-29-2002 08:23 PM

What? Where? When? Who?

What happened?

I like the Gunners but I never heard of a bad performance by them.

ibjem2 08-29-2002 08:24 PM

Absolutely Horrible performance, I guess that is what happens when your cash flow gets low and your only a has been

I saw Slash's snakepit in concert, he is really an amazing guitarist, I never was a guns fan, but, slash is a really accomplished guitarist

Axl, get a day job man....

Thats what happens when you actually perform your songs live, instead of covering your mouth with a mic for 3 minutes while dancing to your own record playing in the background.

Lots of hardcore old skool hippy style peepz love bucket head. Something about that KFC bucket on his head that makes snorting coke & smoking weed more magical

thanks br0.... now I feel old as fuck.

DX 08-29-2002 09:24 PM

if you thought that was a bad performance, you obviously weren't listening or watching the same thing I was.

and to correct an earlier comment,
without AXL ROSE there is no guns n' roses..
without Slash, they just have an open guitarist spot.

What ever happened to Tracii Guns?

Exactly. Shakira, The Hives, GNR and maybe 2-3 other did a REAL live performance... most of the others are all pussies, including that slutty boy enimen who think he's the shit.

galleryseek 08-29-2002 10:56 PM

ahhh! c'mon now. i didn't get to see the performance, but GNR was a kickass band. november rain was great :)

DrGuile 08-29-2002 10:59 PM

sound sucked for both the R'n'R bands (the Hive and that other one)

too bad, they were the best performance...

Ja Rule and that Rap lipsync collective was embarassing....

how hard is it to rap?

anyway....

TDF 08-29-2002 11:12 PM

is that Buckethead in their band?

laura99 08-29-2002 11:15 PM

The name Buckethead makes me wanna crack up! It's a good name calling name, ya know? I don't like name calling, but it's ok when you are doing it to your friends. Damn Buckethead! heh. I'll be ok.

SykkBoy 08-29-2002 11:25 PM

hmmm
well Jungle was certainly rough...but god damn it's good to see Axl back....not sure what it was, but the whole fucking rawness of it gave it an edge....I'm so sick and fucking tired of this goddamned lipsynching bullshit at awards shows....I mean, these guys are getting an award for singing...yet, they lipsynch at the show in which they are recieving the award?

I'm sure some of it was due to Axl also being out of practice and it sounded like the mic was screwed up as well...

so, not one of the better performances, but I'll still be a mindless sheep buying a ticket when they hit here on the new tour :)

speaking of scary 80's shit...what the fuck is up with David Lee Roth looking like goddamn Beetlejuice? Dude, take a clue from Micheal Bolton and shave your head and deal with your baldness....

h0st 08-30-2002 01:58 AM

Yeah, GNR! That was a good suprise, only bad thing is that Slash is not there anymore :(

Sjayne 08-30-2002 02:07 AM

GNR played a music festivle here last weekend and from all reports they were just as horrible. It is a fest that has two camps in different parts of the country. I was at the other one and we didn't get GNR because they only had stanima to do one show where as ALL the other bands rotate between the two sites. No big deal cause we had Foo Fighters and the Hives just to mention two.

Last night, GNR were embarassing. His voice was no where near what is use to be and they didn't have that 'bite' that slash gave them. The most embarassing moment for me was when he tried to do that arms out leg shuffle that he used to do on Jungle.

I would have loved to see them at their peak but this was just balls....the Hives gave a lesson on how to put on a show.

I totally agree....I had heard a lot of hype about these guys but never heard anything from them before last night, but I really enjoyed the energy and the music...it had that garage band feel to it and I'm a sucker for garage bands....will definately have to add them to my "steal off of kazaa lite" list.........

RW316 08-30-2002 08:53 AM

i fell asleep during that performance

Fletch XXX 08-30-2002 08:56 AM

Still havent watched TV since the Laker Finals, so I didnt see it.

But I can imagine it was bad

Sjayne 08-30-2002 08:59 AM

I saw them (the Hives) live last week at a huge outdoor music fest near London. They played a 60,000 crowd in a field just like it was a 50 seater venue and kept the audience by the balls the entire time.

The one thing you have to know about them tho is they intentionally keep a cocky attitude about them to say they are the best band in the world. As long as you know that is part of their act you can go along with the whole tounge in cheekness.

One funny thing I heard about them involves them and the Foo Fighters. The Foos were playing the same night of the fest and I am sure they have played other fests together through out Europe this summer.

Dave Grohl was in the wings watching them and was really impressed by the drummer. He went over the drummer afterwards and told him how great he thought he was.

The Hive's drummer replied with 'I know. You see when you were playing around with that grunge stuff I was playing real punk rock'

I love the foos but few would have the balls to say that to Grohl.

Check out their 'New favorite band Album' that wasn't even the best song from it last night.

wonton 08-30-2002 09:00 AM

thank god he didn't desecrate knockin on heaven's door

cherrylula 08-30-2002 09:27 AM

Axl Rose OWNS the name "Guns n Roses" and can put together a band with whoever he chooses and call them GnR... I believe I saw an interview with Slash where he was talking about this and how none of the other band members really realized that he did this along the way.

Did not see the performance yet hehe. hmmm oh well.

All The Hives did was prove how easy it is to steal Lou Reed's sound and Mick Jagger's moves and sell some records. Just another flavor of the week. It's one thing to be influenced and another to completely rip something off.

Sjayne 08-30-2002 12:12 PM

well Axl Rose can't even do Axel Rose's moves.

.:Frog:. 08-30-2002 12:46 PM

Half these singers are a joke. They make millions and millions of dollars to sing and they sound like shit playing live. Someone like Shakira can sing live and do a good job but most can't.

I understand that making a song in the Studio will sound better then live, but give me a break. Singing is their job and they do it terrible.

At least GnR sang live. I'll give them some credit, most of the others who sang just played a tape.

BlackRain 08-30-2002 12:52 PM

As a veteran of GNR stadium shows and fan...I was a little disturbed by Axl's voice and appearance.

I was hoping inside that it was a poor sound system or mixing and that his voice wasn't as shot as Robert Plant.

Next, he looked like he ate Slash. I was used to the stringy Axl of old. Now, he looks like he smuggling potatos under his OVER-sized jersey.

Sucks getting old.

:winkwink:

BlackRain 08-30-2002 12:53 PM

Oh and by the way.

What the fuck is "The Hives"?

Was that a joke?
