LOOK UP in the sky in an hour from now and you will see...

The shuttle separated from the ISS a couple days ago in preparation for a landing tomorrow.

Last night the ISS and the space shuttle put on an amazing show as they streaked across the sky at about 8:30PM and then again at about 10:30PM.

Tonight is supposed to be even brighter and longer if the moon isn't in the way.

Here are the details for Las Vegas for tonight:

Starts at 9:23:32PM PDT at 10° NNW (10 degrees is just above the horizon)

Ends at 9:27:17PM PDT at 25° E

i saw it, just looked like a star moving for about 3-4 min w/ something behind it then it disappeared

Mr Pheer 06-20-2007 09:32 PM

well that was pretty cool

I assume the small spot trailing behind it was the shuttle?

fuzzylogic 06-20-2007 09:35 PM

to those who saw it... what area do u live in LV?

That sucks yeah I am in NW so I was looking in the darker part of the sky most of the time.

I see a few saw it.. Another great show went across half the sky before fading out in the East... looked like one bright star chasing another. I forgot to get out the binoculars to see if I could see any detail. :)

I hope they make it down ok ...supposed to be tomorrow but weather might delay it until Fri or Sat

Funny enough, the smaller one behind was the ISS despite all those solar panels. Since the shuttle undocked it has been moving further ahead of the ISS in basically the same orbit.

StickyGreen 06-20-2007 09:42 PM

Let's hope there isn't any "space junk" out there this time preventing the shuttle's return: https://youtube.com/watch?v=PmbSupnmK8k

lmao @ "space junk." suuuuurrree.... and that one dude holds up a little alan wrench as if that would look like a huge light in space when seen from earth lolol...
