Some People Think If They Are Born In The UK, That Makes Them British
So does that mean if a dog is born in a stable, its a horse ?!?!?!?!?
(yes i'm talking about immigrants) :disgust |
In the States it works like that, no?
|
Have you paid your monthly dues at your local Aryan Skinhead Organization?
|
I guess it would all depend on how long they lived there for.

The USA was built by immigrants. Shame it's going to shit lately. :( |
At least give credit to the person who originally said it especially as he died recently. Pathetic. :2 cents:

Did you just come in here to start a drama lama thread scott ? :Oh crap |
Thats kind of like black people who are born in the USA think they are african american even though they never even been to africa

Roy Chubby Brown does the same type of jokes. If people don't like them, they shouldn't listen to them... |

You are allowed to basically be a polite, non-racist person and not be 'overly pc' and if you don't see that those jokes are racist I worry for society. |
Oh and as far as denying it goes - yeah he denied it when he thought it would keep him off tv. Did you see any of the clips of him on the Mrs Merton show that were being played last night when his death was announced? He admitted to being a racist and even if he hadn't he was an racist and he made his money off being a racist and telling 'jokes' for racist people.

I've never once heard anyone call him a racist. Funny that... |

Oh and btw as an immigrant that does have British citizenship but wasn't born here ..I think I worked damn hard and contributed to this society enough to be called 'British'. Not to mention taking an active choice to make this my home and to become a citizen and I take a great more pride in it than many people who were born here. So, please continue your anti immigrant rants...or did you mean non-white immigrants?

Britain is an island entirely populated by immigrants. There are NO people native to Britain. All man is naive to somewhere in Africa. So are we all African? ....I know 12year old kids who could win this argument. Jeez.... |

I was born in england and I don't have british nationality nor do I want it :P

You have spoken the magic words ?contributed to this society? with emphasis on the word society. Those that do not integrate and make demands that fragment existing culture will be unpopular in any country. Having said that , I very much doubt if any American will face racist remarks while living in the UK whether they contribute to society or not. |
Lots of orientals born in Hong Kong have UK citizenship, right?
Now most are living in Vancouver Canada. I don't know how that works ;-) |
Quote:
First of all, if somebody was BORN here they aren't an immigrant. Secondly, there are MANY British people of non-recent immigrant status that contribute nothing at all..live on the dole and do nothing. All of which doesn't change the racist nature of the joke and the person quoted as there were no qualifying standards in the joke. |

Congratulations on demonstrating that you have no idea the difference between race and nationality. Proving once again that less intelligent people are usually the most racist.

And the English certainly haven't minded profiting from the oil reserves discovered off the coast of Scotland in the North Sea, have they? |
Quote:
Recent evidence by Kemp and Stephen (1999) has tried to estimate hypothetical Scottish shares of North Sea Oil revenue by dividing the UK sector of the North Sea into separate Scottish and UK sectors using the international principle of equidistance as utilised under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) - such a convention is used in defining the maritime assets of newly formed states and resolving international maritime disputes. The study by Kemp & Stephen showed that hypothesised Scottish shares of North Sea oil revenue over the period 1970 to 1999, varied to as high as 98% dependent upon the price of oil and offset against taxable profits and the costs of exploration and development. Nevertheless a Scottish share of North Sea oil is never alluded to as part of Scotland's net fiscal position and is treated by HM Treasury as extra-regio resources. ... Evidence unearthed in late 2005 under the Freedom of Information Act has shown significant UK government concerns over the rising tide of Scottish Nationalism during the early part of the 1970s and the consequences that this may have had upon ownership and control over the UK's North Sea resources. A report written by the Scottish Office economist Gavin McCrone for ministers in the mid-1970s indicated that with ownership of North Sea oil, an independent Scotland would have "embarrassingly large tax surpluses", that the economy of an independent Scotland, with control over the majority of UK North Sea oil revenue would have the one of the "hardest" currencies in Europe and that "for the first time since the Act Of Union was passed, it can now be credibly argued that Scotland's economic advantage lies in its repeal" The Scottish economy would do just fine without the union. |
If you have a British Accent and bad teeth then you ARE British.
If you have a really thick British accent that only a Cockney bastard can understand then you ARE British. If not then you are not. I think you are bound by your accent. The accent never lies. |
5 tatoos, 9 kids, on wellfare, missing teeth and a chainsmoking/bingedrinking habit.
I think that is the criteria for being granted a UK citizenship. ;) |
