What is the last really good album you bought?

An album that worked as an album rather than just a collection of songs that had little to do with each other. Is the art of the album still alive? If so...what is the last really good album you bought?

TurboAngel 06-19-2007 06:50 AM

I got the new Chris Daugherty CD a few weeks ago. I couldn't tell you an album I have ever owned as that was a long time ago.

:)

Well, every now and then I call a music store a "record shop". So, I feel your pain.

Cassie 06-19-2007 07:56 AM

Last Vinyl Album I got was Endtroducing by DJ Shadow.

Last CD I bought that works as an album was the new Amy Winehouse.

The last White Stripes album was okay as far as playing like an album. I will certainly listen to their new one..the single is good.

I think the last one that I bought that really was good as an album was Green Day's American Idiot as it was a story all the way through that more or less had to be heard in order to make the most sense.

American Idiot was a pretty good concept album (as they are called).

After the last White Stripes album, I wasn't too sure I liked the direction they were going. Then Jack released the Raconteurs album and I was really excited again. The new Single sounds really good and seems like they are finally getting away from the minimalist style that they were going after before. I never quite understood why Jack White used so little instrumentation. I say if you want minimalist then just use an acoustic guitar.

vinyl - superman soundtrack

tape - pearl jam - ten

other than that, ive been downloading music since napster hit the net... seems a waste to buy cd's when the norm nowadays is to have one good song, 13 shitty songs, and 18 skits

buzzy 06-19-2007 09:12 AM

arctic monkeys - favourite worst nightmare

ADL Eddie 06-19-2007 09:15 AM

What is it called if you buy all the songs from a "CD" online? Is that an album, a CD or a record that you bought?

Stephen McTowelie 06-19-2007 09:22 AM

Interesting, I was hoping that the new White Stripes album was going to be good. As for the Arctic Monkeys, I thought that their first album was way way better than "Favourite Worst Nightmare"

Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos

hands down.

justinsain 06-19-2007 09:45 AM

The last Album I bought was probably Lynyrd Skynyrd's " Street Survivors ".

I have about 150 vinyl albums going as far back as the Beach Boys from the early '60s. I almost tossed them once when I moved but now I'm glad I kept them. Someday I'm going to make a big media room and " Tile " one wall with the album covers.

I didn't even know they came out with a new CD. Is it any good?

I see that it was on the Billboard 200 #3 on May 19, 2007.

I think the Eat a Peach Deluxe Edition would make both of you very happy. If I could only have one Allmans disc (well, double disc) this would be it. It's Eat a Peach with an extra disc of a live Fillmore set (not the At Fillmore East set, it's from a couple months later).

quiet 06-19-2007 05:08 PM

hmm.

both arcade fire albums. first interpol album. latest modest mouse. latest death cab for cutie. And of course, the editors only full length album.

I own Fillmore and Eat a Peach as well as Brothers and Sisters. May have another too, but would have to go thru all of my vinyl to verify which one.
