Top 20 most expensive cities

I just read this on CNN

Quote:

"The appreciation of the ruble against the U.S. dollar, combined with ever-increasing accommodation charges, has driven up costs for expatriates in Moscow," Mercer research manager Nathalie Constantin-Metral said in a statement.

A luxury two-bedroom in Moscow now rents for $4,000 a month; a CD costs $24.83, and an international newspaper, $6.30, according to Mercer. By comparison, a fast food meal with a burger is a steal at $4.80.

London takes the No. 2 spot, up from No. 5 a year ago, thanks to higher rents and a stronger British pound relative to the dollar. Mercer estimates London is 26 percent more expensive than Gotham these days.

Following closely on London's heels are Seoul and Tokyo -- Nos. 3 and 4, respectively -- both of which are 22 percent more expensive than New York, while No. 5 Hong Kong is 19 percent more costly

one time in my life I want to visit hong kong.

I dont think Tel Aviv is that expensive. Samewise for Beijing, it's huge city and the avg person gets a below avg salary of any western person. These studies tend to get the most expensive parts of a city and that's why I think they carry a lot of errors.

the cheapest - Sofia, Bulgaria

where I live (also a big city by the sea) - rent $200.00 per month (2 bedroom flat), just came back from mcDonalds - cheeseburger, large fries + fanta - a bit less than $4.00, fruits, vegetables cost peanuts when in season, 1kg cherries - $1.40 (even in South Africa I had to pay $3.00 for like 50 grams) and so on...

not to mention that every second girl on the beach is topless

LilBro 06-18-2007 09:23 AM

I can confirm this, back when I lived in Copenhagen I could not believe how expensive living was. We paid as much as we do for our mortgage now for an old drafty 1 bedroom apartment in a bad area of town.

I am shocked Vancouver is not listed in there , has to be mistake .
You think "A luxury two-bedroom in Moscow now rents for $4,000 a month "
Thats nothing here in Vancouver 2 bedroom suites even go for 5k+ up to rent .
Little 1 bedroom Apt's under 600sqfeet here downtown is about 1500 + month to rent .
My place i am at is way overpriced but it's in a yuppy area lol

Andiz 06-18-2007 10:43 AM

25. Amsterdam

Ace_luffy 06-18-2007 10:47 AM

20. Beijing
