Help Katrina Victims?? WTF???
I just saw an ad on Myspace (which means of course, it may not be legit) asking for donations to help victims of the hurricane close to 2 years ago ...
Okay, so let me get this straight .. Prez Bush has spent billions (and billions) on rebuilding Iraq but a very big part of New Orleans is still a disaster area and people are still in need of aid. Priceless... |
That's why nobody wants Bush anymore. But how the fuck come that he was elected?
|
You think that's bad? FEMA is trying to take back $500 million in "overpayments" that it sent out to aide victims.

we were just in new orleans last week...the place is a MESS
the worst was after you cross the bridge into east new orleans....the place is a wasteland, exactly the same as it was 1 day after katrina hit.... while we were on bourbon street the people in the bars and clubs were like "tell everyone you know to come down!!!" on our way out of every bar...like begging us |

here ya go:
HUNDREDS of houses just like this, just a couple streets down from the french quarter....most have boards on the windows, this one didn't though http://www.justjace.com/tmp/no/100_0935.jpg |
a little of this type of building work, but not much.....this was closer to the french quarter
http://www.justjace.com/tmp/no/100_0936.jpg |
on the way out of new orleans on both sides of the road is MILES AND MILES of this.....boarded up and left for dead buildings, not even touched since the hurricane came through....
that is all abandoned, i would say 10 miles of it, easily http://www.justjace.com/tmp/no/100_0938.jpg |
we passed two of these....GASP....six flags that are not open because they have not been rebuilt
I should have taken pics of the roller coasters, but got to my camera too late, it looked like a six flags ghost town...creepy shit http://www.justjace.com/tmp/no/100_0940.jpg |
my pics do NOT do it justice whatsoever....I was driving 80mph and couldn't really slow down cause that highway was DAMN fast and cars everywhere
next time we go down in October I will take some real detailed shots of the devastation....there is plenty of it there still |

Fool me twice, shame on me .... I was stunned when he was re-elected. To be fair, John Kerry didn't seem like much of an alternative but seriously, the rest of the world just shook it's head thinking "why???" I'm not a student of American politics or history, but I think it's safe to say GWB is the most big business-friendly president in history. And that's the nicest thing I can say about him... It's one thing if Katrina was a disaster that no one could have predicted or stopped (in terms of protecting the city, not stopping the hurricane obviously), but since the warnings were there about the levees and the response immediately after, and to this day, is despicable. And those billions going to fund the war and rebuild Iraq, a needless and probably winless war ... I just can't believe 300 million Americans just go to work everyday and shrug their shoulders, not caring obviously. What's the bigger tragedy? :( |
