Trial Sign Ups - good or bad

I think they suck as people join then download what they can, then leave.

But am I wrong?

good post, i was wondering the same thing. i personally don't like the idea, but im not sure if they are effective.

If you membership site is easy to rip (ie, you don't have throttling or other anti-scoop protection in place) I have to assume it pretty bad.

I have promoted some hot hot hot sites with trials, but found thats (in the ccbill stats) in most cases is all people did was join the trial then leave.

In fact I did this as an experiment, Ijoined a trial and just downloaded what I could in the day or so I had. I canceled within 1 hour of joining.

I bet a lot of people have got wise and now do this.

stick with rev share then...

i ahve a site dedicated to trials and i only use PPS

tical 06-17-2007 04:27 PM

limited trials

yeah what tical said, limited trials

limit the amount a trial member can download, easily solves the problem

It is quite rare that anyone who signs up for a trial stays after the end. Too often I find I am getting one or two dollars affiliate payout for a trial membership which rarely bills. I used to think revshare was the best option but with so many non-recurring trial memberships I tend to choose the pps option these days.
