How do these .EDU guys get away with this shit in GOOGLE?
|
students with free time
|
Ask squizzel
I saw him posting on another board bragging how he makes tons from black hat edu stuff... |
just wonder how long they get away with it...or is google reading it as a fuck story of sorts <shrug>
|
They won't be able to do this for too much longer (but by then it'll be something else).

They just find ways to slip in the links via XSS or just unprotected forums, blogs, etc.
Or you can just pay some student to slip them in. |
They get away with it because google's algorithm has more trust assigned to .edu domains.
|
Google makes the mistake of assigning great Trustrank to many of the .edu domains. Combine that with hundreds if not thousands of servers and subdomains off of those .edu domains, filled with out of date chatboards, badly coded PHP, and wide open directories... and you get a disaster.
Here is to hoping that Google decides not to give the .edu domains any more preference than any others. Does anyone else remember what Nick Tamer use to do the "porn from nasa" site? It was just an open upload directory, and he would stick porn in there. This is pretty much the same thing, on a larger, dumber, and more organized crime sort of way. |

shut them down.

ask me but u will never find out. This is a need to no businesss. I need to no, and u dont :) The term for it is called parasite hosting.
Basicaly you get a page in with lots of trustrank, fire a ton of links at it and redirect it to whatever page you want. Lots of money to be made. And yes... its legal. |

thats some heavy keywords stuffing
so heavy that even if its on edu domains they should be penalized soon at least i hope so :) |
well the links don't lead anywhere
|
Goes to show you just how primitive Googles algos really are no? Give massive trust rank to a domain type that just about any uni student student has access to?? Google seem to have lost the plot.
|
i hate them...
|
.edu boxs have always been notorious for horrible security, due to the fact that they simply cannot afford a good tech staff in many cases.

Google has known about it for at least 3 years that I personally know of - and wont do anything about it unless its brought out in a major news outlet - till then - have fun |
