Movies that actually worked as TV shows and vice versa
 

It has been going both ways for ages ...good movies end up being turned into tv shows and most suck or a well known tv show ends up being turned into a movie...and usually they suck too. Now and then it does work though...which have worked for you?

I can think of two movie to tv transitions that worked - MASH and perhaps Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Which have worked for you in either direction of tv to movie or movie to tv?

I agree with M*A*S*H, and can honestly think of no others I enjoyed (Beverly Hillbillies comes to mind.. which I lasted 3 seconds through..).

- Stargate SG9

TV Shows --> Movie:
- Dukes of Hazzard
- Starsky & Hutch
- SWAT (sucked!)

Video Games --> Movies:
- Wing Commander
- DOOM
- Silent Hill
- Resident Evil

Tons more, but I cant really think of any others right now.

I really liked Xfiles as a tv show and have tried to watch the film three times but fell asleep each time.

superman would be a good example
started as a comic strip went to cartoon then to a live action tv show
and it spawned multiple shows (lois and clark, smallville) and multiple movies (superman 1-4, superman returns)

batman

fantastic four started as a cartoon, became a movie and then now back to another series in 2006.

spiderman
early 70 live action turned into mutliple animated series which ultimately turned into the spiderman movies

witchblade is going to be made into a movie too

and the terminator is going to become a series in brittan


any comic book based tv shows seem to translate to the big screen and vice versa
