Are HD cameras any cheaper now?

I just saw a HD clip (never really paid attention before because of bandwidth and cost) and I was really impressed. It was shot in widescreen, is that normal? How much do they cost now?

Thanks

I read a review and that the footage looked amazing, the only problem is the new codec only vegas edits it at this time.

Its lighting,if you want to shoot hd you have to spend sometime learning to light. Most don't and that's why most of what we see looks like shit, its not as forgiving as sd.

Have 2 of the Hv-10s and 1 Xha1. Lub em. With good lighting the hv10s are nearly the same as the xha1. xha1 is better in lower light though.

A good resource is http://www.dvinfo.net

low light is important if your shooting for national geographic, for porn low light is the enemy.

Well xha1 is "more forgiving" lets say. :winkwink: Plus new site we are shooting requires some dark setting shoots. :upsidedow

Much cheaper, but sadly many of them are not with MiniDV tape, but HardDrive or DVD which cant be used for the rough action (not porn) we use them for.

The next generation of Solid-State Disks have the capacity to take over, so they will become faster and less energy consuming as well.

There is a consumer model made by Sony that's like 1,200.00 that a well known Solo girl network shoots with. Among others that's I've heard of, that use it as well.

If you were shooting for DVD's then may need top of the line, but for web work I think some of the lower end cameras will work fine.

If I'm not mistaken I think it's this one.. (shoots in MiniDV but also has a DVD and hard drive model)

it's actually this one.. pretty sure it's the same as the best buy add
