Remote access, pls help !

What I want is a system where i can from any computer online access my office system to access files etc. Not so much to run applications.
Any suggestions how this could be done ? It would have to be safe as well...

i would use vnc (google it) or MS rdp and setup a firewall between your office pc and the internet

i am familiar with VNC... if it is a PC machine, can I access it using a mac remotely?

Ill tell you what to do.

Go to http://logmein.com/
Signup there (choose LogMeIn free).
Thats the best (free !!!) soft (remote access).
It works with IE and FireFox !
Amazing features , no problem with refreshing ( like in VNC).
On LogMeIn site there is also soft to map drives (hamachi or somethg like that).
