Judge orders man not to have girlfriend
 

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario - A judge has ruled that a 24-year-old Canadian man is not allowed to have a girlfriend for the next three years.

The ruling came after Steven Cranley pleaded guilty on Tuesday to several charges stemming from an assault on a former girlfriend.

Cranley, who has been diagnosed with a dependent personality disorder, attacked his girlfriend in an argument after their breakup.

He tried to prevent her from phoning the police by cutting her phone cord and punched and kicked her. He finally stabbed himself with a butcher knife when police did arrive, puncturing his aorta.

Doctors say Cranley has difficulty coping with rejection and runs a high risk to re-offend if he becomes involved in another intimate relationship.

Justice Rhys Morgan said Cranley "cannot form a romantic relationship of an intimate nature with a female person.

"That is the only way I can see the protection of the public is in place until you get the counseling you need."

Cranley had already served 146 days in pre-trail custody, which Morgan said was enough jail time in this case.

His lawyer says the no girlfriend order is the first of its kind that he has encountered.

This is truly, the most fucked up thing I have seen... counselling? Judge Judy even but this?:1orglaugh...

So, how will they enforce this? and if he's prohibited from dating or being with a girl, does this make him a larger risk of becoming a rapist?

While the guy should be in jail, this whole judgment is pretty damn stupid...maybe this judge is just jonesing for his own tv show...

But he's allowed a boyfriend...

He sounds like a male version of a stripper.

Like all rabid out of control dogs he should be put out of his misery permanently.


But since Peterborough Ontario isn't part of the axis of evil I guess a no girlfriend order is the next best thing. I like it, kind of a universal restraining order. :D

Well picked up there, I beleive its called Pandoras law, which applies the implosion method ensuring no-one else suffers but him. I am trying to grasp the method to the madness and i am still stuck at man obsesses about woman whos rejection results in man being stabbed. I think they should have just locked him up, he would've learnt to stand on his own two feet and hold on to the soap in the shower. they have accepted his problem and opted to return him to society where he has a 50% more chance of re-offending. Geez, i guess that explains tiger woods and eminem - you yanks are backwards in coming forwards... its like your fanny is our ass - our fanny is your ass, which is why I always thought Fran Drescher spoke like that..:1orglaugh
