Converting to Flash Video
We are thinking about converting our subscription site to Flash video (400+ videos each consisiting of between one to eight 5 minute pieces and full versions).
There are many different and conflicting strategies and I am getting confused!! Has anyone here done this yet? If so please PM me, contact me on Yahoo IM, or find me on the streets so we can talk about maybe having you come in and helping. Compensation? well it could be anything from a doughnut all the way to you buying our company and allowing us to be well paid workers doing what we do now and building our brand with your investment until we buy you back out and reap all the profits for ourselves as a publicly traded commodity on the NYSE. What are you confused about exactly? Wont you just covert your current videos to .flv and change the player?
Proadultoutsourcing will have someone help you 8hr a day 6 days a week for around $800/mo if you want to hire help. |
Thanks for your quick reply... but....I know that part.... I've been creating flv's for our MGPs lately... I've been using Ultra Flash Video FLV Converter
What I'm confused about the implementation of the videos into our CMS and the conversion of our existing site and it's scope into a totally different enviroment than it currently is... it will basically be a total overhaul of our site. Then there is the server that we are currently using.. will we need to scrap it and start over from scratch? will the Adobe Flash Media Server program be the way that we have to go, or can we survive with what we have by just using FLV and conversion tools. should we scrap the old formats (wmv, mpg) in favor of just using the crossplatform flash vids? Does offering dowloadable clips make sense in this day and age? It's the strategy and the implementation that I am confused about... I feel... WE feel... flash is the obvious way to go. For the producer, the consumers, the webmasters and for the industry in general... Flash is the future. I just want to know what is being done currently and maybe get someone in here that has a vision and some ablilty to help us bring our vision to the masses in a form that is the obvious paradigm shift in content delivery in a subscription based adult web site format. Flash isn't necessarily Hi-Def, but it is quick loading and cost efficient. As the belt tightens for us all and we look for our next big thing to stay afloat. if that is what Proadultoutsourcing can do for me and my site at the above stated price, sign me up.. I'm am there and we will all be rich. Hope that clarifies my mystified position. DG |
I wouldnt think changing formats is that difficult as far as your CMS. Well depending on your CMS that is. You would just need to replace the code that plays your videos in whatever format you are using now to a the code that plays the .flv.
But Id also like to know at what point you need to use a flash media server to stream your videos. Let us know what answers you find if you find them outside this thread. Im sure it will be useful information to a lot of people here. |
I'm going home right now but I will contact you tomorrow.

i would say that you would only need the flash streaming server if you were to allow* hotlinking of videos, say trailers or something. Other wise i would say just use one of the flash players that is out right now, i would say the http://www.jeroenwijering.com/ or http://flowplayer.sourceforge.net/ (paided if you want to keep users from dl movies)
and for encoding every review site that i have read says to use the On2 VP6 codec for best quality. |
Thanks for you input everybody!
