Gunna loose income for both thats for sure.

Guess ebay is really concened with google checkout eh?
I would not put it past google to offer up a free auction house that is advertising driven as a counter.

tranza 06-13-2007 04:59 PM

Thanks for that link....

NewbieNudes 06-13-2007 05:03 PM

Cool.

Hey WHY THE HELL doesn't google make a version of EBAY that actually has a decent user interface?

They would clean up!

Pleasurepays 06-13-2007 05:04 PM

i doubt google will be affected at all. almost any search for keywords that don't show search ads, turn up ebay ads (in addition to a few others). but its not like there is ever a shortage of people to step in and take those clicks. the clicks will still get sold no matter what. for ebay however, its probably a huge loss of traffic.

RawAlex 06-13-2007 05:12 PM

PP, normally I would agree with you, but Ebay apparently represents a pretty sizable chunk of inventory (if I read correctly, ebay is 4.1% of all paid search traffic). Losing Ebay will almost certainly lower the value of at least some real click terms on Google.

Further, there is the possibility of the cascade effect: If Ebay stays off Google for 60 days and their traffic and listings don't drop... other companies that are spending huge amounts of money on Google might consider slowing down the pace or re-checking their spending to make sure they are getting value for money.

Google should be able to make it up and make it invisible, but if Ebay shows that Google isn't needed to make their business go, others might follow suit.

bumping this post because for some it is real news...now I'm getting back to the work.

will76 06-13-2007 06:05 PM

nice, glad to see someone sticking it to them. I have never dealt with a company that has a " fuck you i don't need you" attitude like google. I have jumped through fucking hoops for months and they deny my ads but yet I point out 10+ people on adwords doing worse shit then what they were rejecting me for. They dont care. They would take day(s) sometimes over a week to get back to me, their replies are very very general (they give you no assistance or details on how to fix a problem).

it's like I don't need you, so fuck off we have enough business. Which is true but a bad attitude to have. You may not be #1 for ever .

Turboface 06-13-2007 06:09 PM

Events are being put into motion here. eBay is still displaying AdWord ads to countries outside the US, but that probably won't be for too much longer from the looks of things.

aico 06-13-2007 06:10 PM

They probably just wanted to use the word "Girl" in their ads and couldn't.

starpimps 06-13-2007 06:44 PM

I didn't notice scrollwheels factored in there. I've clicked a lot less since I got this new mouse.
