27 year record... should I call Ripley's or Guinness?
 

Today marks the 27 year anniversary of the last time I puked. Yes, no lie. Caught wicked food poisoning on this day in 1980 at a Ho Jo's eating what seemed my weight in fried clams (I was 11) while on vacation with my family and pretty much said, this shit isn't for me after a night of baptizing my parents hotel room.

Part phobia, part pepto, part willpower, part luck... 27 years later my record stands up.

Yeah I've had the flu, yeah I've been drunk plenty of times and yeah I've had other cases of mild food poisoning since that fateful day... but the dozens of times I could have been sick, and I've come DAMN close, it just didn't happen.

So please drink a shot of bile in my honor :1orglaugh

Heh... I've had so many challenges posed to me over the years. I know my limitations.

Ah hahaha, I was sharing a room with _Oz_ back in like, 1999, got totally trashed and came back to the room. I ended up puking all over the bathroom the last night. God it was awful. I left a wad of cash as a tip for the cleanup lady and locked the door.

I usually only puke about once ever few years. Last time was about a year ago. After talking to my doctor about it, he's pretty sure I had food poisoning but since I was WAY too sick to get the doctor, I suffered alone - well, 3 dogs and a cat wondering WTF was going on!

Every 15 minutes I was sick for 12 hours. Then when I realized no matter what I put in was going to come back out in record time, I started playing around with drinks (yeah, OK, I was a little delirious at that point....). Orange soda, some kind of bright green Mexican lime soda, cranberry juice - it was all I had for entertainment since I was in the guest room and the only TV I can get there are the 3 major stations in Chattanooga TN ;)

BTW, they sure do advertise a LOT of mobile home sale places on late night Chattanooga TV!!

Doctor gave me some medicine to keep around should it happen again.

i've mastered the hangover puke. i'm not sure i could handle that clam puking thing man. that flu like food poisoning puking is a whole diff ballgame.

I rarely throw up, and haven't in years... but there have been a couple blemishes in my record. Alcohol related.

The date was easy for me to remember... cuz as the years went by and I realized I had stood the test of time of not spitting chunks I had to think back to when it actually happened. You really don't forget your first horrible case of food poisoning coupled with a cross country family road trip... Friday the 13th 1980.

What would stop me from puking would be the thought of cleaning it up after if I missed the toilet. But that's why I got married.
