settlements suck - id want the whole thing back. Something like a centralized fund (like the ones that banks and insurance companies have when one of them goes belly up) that sets the creditor straight and moves the debt to an agency that would be stamping on the debtors balls and making their life miserable until it got paid back.

Yep, it's pretty absurd. They originally had him paying me back at $50 a month and at least I got that changed. If he wins the lottery though....Then I'll go back and get the 12% a year interest I'm legally entitled to :) Right now it seems rather pointless since unless he works until he's well into his 100's, then I'll never even see all the principle. :disgust

Probably! I have no idea how that works. Right now it's automatically fed into a debit card. I've left all the info on how to withdraw it with my family included in my other "this is really important" stuff. I would THINK it would be a part of my estate and he'd have to keep paying. He filed BK a couple of years ago - thankfully he couldn't include this - so I doubt he'll have much of an estate to go after when he croaks.

Once a crappy computer place ripped me off bad:

My girlfriends laptop had an internet connectivity problem, so she takes it to a place that's owned by her neighbors. They take forever (a month) to fix it, and supposedly restore the files. They demand $600 (I thought this was outrageous, the computer didn't have all that much wrong with it)

She gets home and the laptop doesn't even turn on, in worse condition than when she gave it to them. She takes it back to the place, where they say they will do their best and they say they won't charge any more as a "favor" lol... so a month later they claim that there is nothing they can do to fix the computer, and they are sorry, but they will not issue a refund.

I immediately contact my bank and have the charges reversed... problem is my girlfriend is lazy as hell and never picked it up (she'd already bought a new one), so once they figured out they got a chargeback they decided not to even give the computer back.

After bullshitting with the crazy Indian owner of the place and listening to his childish threats of "defamation" I had my attorney send him nice demand letter telling him she'd incurred $10,000 worth of damages due to loss of use of the laptop, and we'd like to reach a settlement

In the end, I got to keep the $600 and they had to give my girlfriend a new laptop and the old one as well.

Checked the laptop out, and turns out the entire screen was broken (girlfriend just too oblivious to know this), those fuckers had obviously dropped or smashed the thing and just didnt want to take responsibility

So all this over $600 and a laptop.... but that's what it takes to make things right sometimes, it's the point of the thing.

now I am not so rich or stuckup to say I don't care about the money or what have you but I learned when I was young that if you let someone rip you off, take advantage of you, etc they will do it again, others will try, etc.

I pay my bills ontime - every time - all the time when they come in, I expect others to do the same. Not alot to ask imho.

We're still among the very few who figured out a way to get iBill to settle in full with us over a year after payments stopped.

We also sued and successfully settled out-of-court for damages on two cases of copyright infringement in past years.

Well at least you finally figured it out. Took me a couple months to figure out that those "webmaster" pages designed to "help" you out are just another excuse to get someone to make you more money. I've been doing this for 3 years now, and making more every year than the one previous, so I must be doing something right.

Oh and when someone wants to "trade" traffic with you, it only means they want to find a way to get more of your traffic then they send back.

Most lawyers tend to make it a point about not discussing pending litigation, and usually demand their clients do the same. Especially in civil, where it seems to be very easily overlooked.

this is an open and shut case. mike will not even show up to court in the civil matter. however the wire fraud that was commited he will be arrested or atleast have a warrant out. this isnt a big case that needs secrecy.

i paid for a service, it was not rendered i did not get my money back. case closed.
