I love it how jesus freaks, when you ask them for evidence...

I've had a lot of frustrating discussions with religious people for exactly that reason. "Well, how do you know that happened?" "Because it says so in the bible." "But how do you know that's true?" "Well, if you read in Genesis..."
|
I just let people believe what they want to, doesnt effect me..

I do however choose to respect their right to believe what they want to believe, even if it differs from my own beliefs. I certainly don't feel the need to mock them or publicly ostracize them for it. That's your job. :winkwink: |

Don't need to think about it, it's pretty obvious.
Also I always ask my mother in law for proof and she says she doesn't have any she just has "faith". So basically she's an idiot. I have faith that Pamela Anderson is going to fuck me one day. No evidence, no hope, no proof. I have faith. |

I dont think so. You would laugh and think im nuts. So would many jesus freaks. Yet if there would talk of a pink dog in the bible it suddenly would be something else right? Then you have to respect it. Sorry but the bible is as much fantasy and any other fantasy book. |

yeah, people tend to believe in almost everything written on paper

My favourite is when something awful happens and someone asks why would god let that happen - the answer is "God moves in mysterious ways"
Well I move in mysterious ways - but with me they call it Bi-Polar Disorder. :321GFY |

I think you should be prepared to be wrong before you can make an arguement about anything.

But since you are comparing ridiculous made-up nonsense to written doctrines compiled from the writings of thousands of sources that dates back or otherwise spans many thousands of years, I didn't see where it merited a response. :D But whatever, I have a few minutes to spare this evening. Hate the book or despise those who believe in the deity all you want, but many of the teachings and precepts found in scripture IS worthwhile knowledge. I'm not talking the "sacrifice your firstborn", "burn a goat as an offering" or "cut off they wife's nose if it offendeth thee" etc... I'm talking about the basic precepts on human decency, such as not feeling the driving need to ridicule others for their beliefs, don't commit murder, set a good example for your children, or it's probably not the best idea to go coveting your neighbot's wife, that kind of thing. You have to admit there are a few here who could stand a good brush-up on some of those lessons. Whenever I see someone so rabidly attacking and ridiculing the beliefs of others I always wonder if that person is in some way scared or intimidated that those beliefs might actually hold some truth. Conversely, I find that those who just believe what they believe and shut the fuck up about what others believe different are the ones who are secure with themselves. It's this kind of ridicule and insults that sparks resentment and hatred, and has even cause wars throughout history. Wouldn't it be great if everyone was happy with their own beliefs (or non-belief as the case may be) and just kept their foolish mouths shut about what others are doing? That of course includes the bible thumpers. There would certainly be no Jehova Witnesses knocking at people's doors, and no Francks starting threads about how stupid Christians are. :D |
We had a guy fall about 30 feet off of a roof a few months ago... On the way to the hospital my boss and I were talking about how he should be dead from the way he fell.. to which his wife replied, "God was looking out for him." So naturally I asked, "If God was lookin' out for him why did he let him fall to begin with?" ..
She says, "Well, alot of people look at it that way." I just left it at that... I knew it would be a waste of time to discuss it.. Just can't see this selective saving, and letting things go so far then he jumps in and saves the day.. Kinda silly to think about.. |
Well look at the bright side, at least are asking the ones who actually have read the Bible... some are just Jesus freaks becaues someone told them to be.
|
I usually ask them "How much will you sell me your daughter for?"
(According to Exodus 21:7-10 you're allowed to sell her and I'm allowed to buy her) :) |
