How do kids just know ???

How do kids just know to split an Oreo cookie and eat the middle first?

I gave my son a few Oreo Mini's today and he just started poppin them apart and eating the good stuff. I guess it's just built in .:thumbsup

Its the kid thing of playing with your food.

IllTestYourGirls 06-10-2007 04:05 PM

T.V. it is amazing what they pick up watching tv for like 10 mins.

DWB 06-10-2007 04:34 PM

Whatever the problem is, I blame it all on hip hop and black people.

shekinah 06-10-2007 04:41 PM

I eat without popping it apart, just normal..:)

BucksMania 06-10-2007 04:46 PM

maybe they learn that in school? :)

tranza 06-10-2007 05:00 PM

Yep, it's probably instinct.

:2 cents:

I have to guess he saw it on TV but he really doesn't watch much TV. and most of what he watches is on DVD.

"it's science!"

I never saw it on TV as a kid. I don't know if they even had such a commercial back then. :D

I just wanted the icing first, and the only way to get at it was to pull off that one side.

Kid logic 101.

Children can be very perceptive. I wouldn't put it past the fact that he saw the good stuff in the middle.

Also, just think of all the toys a child plays with growing up. Many of the early toys are items that a child can take apart and put back together. I wouldn't doubt if that has some effect on it :)

nAtuRaLbEautY 06-13-2007 08:19 AM

it is an inherent skill at the back of every human brain...hahaha, he probably saw it on tv or from other kids perhaps?

SykkBoy 06-13-2007 08:28 AM

I think I'm abnormal...as a kid and to this day, I still just dunk an oreo into a big glass of milk or coffee...i don't think I've ever pulled one apart...

royaljelly2 06-13-2007 08:38 AM

I would first have gone with that kids play with their food but these days they just have to catch a commercial and see how it's done.

Dido 06-13-2007 09:06 AM

Well - I don't think they even sell oreo's over here.. (Not sure ofcourse, since I spend very very little time in the supermarkets)

But an easy experiment would be to give a dutch kid an oreo cookie and see what (s)he does with it :)

But, I might disappoint some people here, I'm not willing to get kids just to see how they'll eat oreo cookies.
