Have any of you built your own HTPC?
I'm about to embark on this journey and from everything I've read, it looks like it's going to be a big pain in the ass.
I want dual internal OCUR cards but Maximum PC just published an article about them 3 days ago and it's not pretty. At this point, the only specific things I have decided on are the enclosure and hard drives. The rest of the guts are up for suggestions. |
Yeah, but mostly just for gaming. I've been waiting to do a full system for quit some time. Just never got around to it. Nows a good time though, hard drives are dirt cheap and there's finally some decent pc tuner cards available.
avsforum has a section for htpc's, head over there for far more info then you'd get here |

baddog hit me up on ICQ with this....You may want to check it as well. http://www.htpcforums.com/ |
At this point I have gone to Velocitymicro.com and customized a box with them. Now I will swap out the parts for the ones I want and build my own from there...I think....
Looks like I am going to build a quad processor machine for this. |

Depends on the kind of system you want to build though. |
I'm in the process of building my home theater room now, and then I will start on the HTPC. From all the reading I've done it really does sound like a pain in the ass. I'd like to be able to run my satellite through it and have the HTPC work as a tivo as well....

The Silverstone cases are nice but they don't have the width I want. From what I've been reading...They recommend a quad proc. machine for the dual OCUR cards. I'll probably go with AMD for this which is a big thing for me as I am a die hard Intel fan. |
Bump for the night crowd.
