Hard rock fans...who's has/had the best voice ever?

My vote goes to Klaus Meine, the Scorpions lead singer.

actually it's really hard to choose one track from so many of them, so I'm proposing this '82 original one:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=2UqCkFTtOOs

very close in my book follows Freddie Mercury, but Queen ranks amongst the all time music legends rather than hard rock only.

...KM's is hair sucks, although:1orglaugh

orcwar 06-10-2007 06:17 AM

Ronnie James Dio

No Question... never !!

Kevsh 06-10-2007 06:17 AM

I hated Led Zeppelin growing up but Robert Plant had, to me, just about the perfect rock voice.

Yngwie 06-10-2007 06:22 AM

I'll add Miljenko Matijevic from Steelheart to that list.

CarlosTheGaucho 06-10-2007 06:27 AM

After thousands of hours of intense listening to many many acts and after I saw him live two years ago - Ronnie James Dio is on the top of the hard rock genre for me, Bruce Dickinson is also impressive and has a very nice voice colour, Gillan was very cool before 73, then he somehow lost the magic. With Rob Halford we have another top singer in the game, although I never completely enjoyed the nature of his voice one must say that his range, feeling and live performing is also incredible.

From the younger ones I always enjoyed Chris Cornell, Maynard James Ferguson from Tool or Eddie Vedder (even they are also in or close to their fourties, seems like were all getting old)

come on, he's really good, but even Axl Rose sounds better:

long distance to Klaus Meine's performance:

my opinion, though, all of them are really spectacular:thumbsup

Shit Craig Goldy is putting up a hell of a Blackmorish solo, no wonder as far as Ritch is always listed as one of his main heroes.

orcwar 06-10-2007 06:53 AM

Iron Maiden is heavy metal, definitely Bruce Dickinson is one of the best:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=4jloHWPQgOU

Maybe we should start a new thread for them:2 cents:

tony286 06-10-2007 07:07 AM

I would have to go with Robert Plant in his prime.

orcwar 06-10-2007 07:10 AM

Should't have started me on this... been watching videos of Iron Maiden on you tube...
Children of the damned, The Trooper, Number of the beast,Wasted years... all there.. plus so many more
The funny part is that I know all the lyrics stilll, the headbanging must have worked!
Next topic - Big Country anyone?! :-)

he-fox 06-10-2007 07:15 AM

I raise my point with a 2003 Red Square Moscow live performance:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=9Me_tXyq_t4

After 19 years of the original launching of the song.

Led Zeppelin competes in the legend category, above this one, but I'm afraid there RP will have to face Freddy Mercury, which is the most amazing performer all-time IMO.

Noel Gallagher has a 3 times better voice than Liam...without him and his song writing Oasis wouldn't rank among the best Uk bands ever:2 cents:

wanna proof?

sue 06-10-2007 07:38 AM

My vote, Layne Staley from Alice in Chains. RIP

*hugs and kisses*

ServerGenius 06-10-2007 07:42 AM

forgot all about them. Even saw them in concert way back when. :thumbsup

Joe BrainCash 07-06-2007 06:25 AM

Not my favorite but I think the singer that could do the most with his voice was Freddy mercury, especially if you include showmanship.
Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson are in the same category.

I like James Hetfield a lot but please don't include him in the great voices category.

stickyfingerz 07-06-2007 06:43 AM

Good God Damn... https://youtube.com/watch?v=tR-5Z...elated&search=

Thats amazing to do with just a piano and a voice. Power!

Was he the singer for Mark Wahlberg on Rockstar? Im grabbing the movie to compare.
