Any Depeche Mode fans in the house?

I was just listening their complete discography...

Their 101 concert album sounds amazing to me, even after all these years.
I especially like the Never Let Me Down Again track.

NaughtyRob 06-10-2007 12:27 AM

Yeah, they are awesome. I remember going to the clubs in 1987, they were the shit back then along with The Cure and New Order.

WWC 06-10-2007 12:30 AM

Hell ya....the are great!!! Grew up listening to Depeche Mode

he-fox 06-10-2007 12:32 AM

he-fox 06-10-2007 12:48 AM

Theo The Theologian 06-10-2007 12:49 AM

I have your own personal Jesus right here pal.

he-fox 06-10-2007 12:54 AM

and the same track after 18 years at Rock Am Ring in Germany 2006:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=t8l4-SzOoto

some songs are still magic over the years and generations, just watch the crowd waving their hands at 4:40...

Reach out and touch faith

Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who's there

Feeling unknown
And you're all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer

Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver

:thumbsup:pimp

CashGordon 06-10-2007 01:30 AM

Grown up with them, still listening. 'Enjoy the Silence' is the best song of all times for me.

orcwar 06-10-2007 01:30 AM

Seeing the recent threads - Should'nt this be GFY's theme song?
"People are people
So why should it be
You and I should get along so awfully"

:1orglaugh you're right:

"So we're different colours
And we're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I've never even met you so what could I have done

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand

Help me understand

Now you're punching
And you're kicking
And you're shouting at me
I'm relying on your common decency
So far it hasn't surfaced
But I'm sure it exists
It just takes a while to travel
From your head to your fists"

gfy 100%:1orglaugh

he-fox 06-10-2007 02:05 AM

I like the french hottie from this Strangelove clip:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=bjRYifPHPgo

he-fox 06-10-2007 02:23 AM

gfy - DM version:

"Everything counts in large amounts

The graph on the wall
Tells the story of it all
Picture it now see just how
The lies and deceit gained a little more power
Confidence - taken in
By a suntan and a grin

The grabbing hands grab all they can
All for themselves - after all
The grabbing hands grab all they can
All for themselves - after all
It's a competitive world"

:)

orcwar 06-10-2007 06:06 AM

Thank you He-Fox for starting this thread..
Ever since then i've been listening to Depeche Mode's The Singles 81>85 Album.
Songs like... In your Room, Walking in my shoes, Policy of Truth,Strange Love...
Remembering the days when I had hair and was 40 pounds lighter :-(
Damn i hate time....

RevSand 06-10-2007 06:08 AM

Quote:

I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who?ll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She?ll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She?ll hear me out
And won?t easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she?ll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
Aaaahhhhh....

I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who?ll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don?t want to be tied
To anyone?s strings
I?m carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when I?m asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I?ll get away with it
Aaaahhhhh....

Man that song gets me EVERYTIME...

unfortunately, there are no better bands these days, so it looks like we witnessed more or less the history of the music, just look to the crowds they are raising in our times and compare it with the new bands and music stars.

rarely times when Martin Gore sings. Great musician.

it was a time when lyrics weren't about bling, rims and look how I'm shaking my ass...:2 cents:

Ultra has to be their best album.
Speak and Spell, Violator, and 101 are also great.

definitely a great track.

but DM's magic is in the live concerts, even they are somehow at the limit between rock and pop.:2 cents:

I don't know how many girls I thought was my "Somebody" . :(

The beginning of the relatioship was always "Enjoy The Silence". :)

My favorite song to listen to after breaking up is DM.

Quote:

Shake The Disease

I'm not going down on my knees,
Begging you to adore me
Can't you see it's misery
And torture for me
When I'm misunderstood
Try as hard as you can,
I've tried as hard as I could
To make you see
How important it is for me

Here is a plea
From my heart to you
Nobody knows me
As well as you do

You know how hard it is for me
To shake the disease
That takes hold of my tongue
In situations like these

Understand me

Some people have to be
Permanently together
Lovers devoted to
Each other forever
Now I've got things to do
And I've said before that
I know you have too
When I'm not there
In spirit I'll be there

Here is a plea
From my heart to you
Nobody knows me
As well as you do
You know how hard it is for me
To shake the disease
That takes hold of my tongue
In situations like these.

Understand me
Brings back memories of 1984. God, I'm old.

Kevin Marx 06-10-2007 10:11 AM

Shit.... yeah... feeling old now with the rest of you. 80s was my music and nothing defines that more than DM.

I listen to it all the time. 1984 makes me think of Van Halen too LOL

webgurl 06-10-2007 10:15 AM

I love depeche mode with passion , and of course the guys
