What Camera Equipment Do you use?

Hi.

I'm going to enroll into a photography course with the idea of shooting and filming all my own content. I've been working with other programs for a while, and would like to "go it alone!"

I was wondering what types of camera's and camcorders you are using to produce your content. If you have links to places where I can buy the equipment, please let me know.

Since your planning on following a course .. why don't you start by researching what you want based on your final needs. There are many sites out there that can help you understand specs. At least this way you'll be prepared when you start your course .. rather then finding the easy way out by asking people that have spent the time to learn

my 2 cents

Of course, I love it. Very good camera, great mic too, but you can get an external one for $100 and make the sound really kick ass.

Canon 1Ds, assorted L lenses (15mm-300mm)
Upgrading to the 1Ds Mk II later this year and also buying the Hasselblad 503CWD (digital medium format)

Working up toward a Panasonic HVX200

OK does that mean that we can no longer post threads about finding specific sponsors too? Or shall we just find out ourselves??

Asking what camera others here on GFY use *IS* part of doing research. Often many cam review sites are sponsored or paid by manufacturers to give slanted opinions and ratings (not all, but some).

Back in the 90s when we started out, I paid attention to what colleagues were using. Whenever I saw high-quality image production, I'd ask questions and listen to what gear they were using. And although I did some independent research myself at various camera shops, a large part of our purchase decision was based on colleagues' advice.

Buying expensive, hi-end camera gear shouldn't be trial-and-error. Its not "the easy way out" asking others what they use.

Its good business sense.
