munki 06-08-2007 09:22 AM

Just under in an old clients customized Viper I was working on...

He was afraid to drive it himself (show car) so he let me and the other guys from my old shop run it around for him.

woj 06-08-2007 09:23 AM

not many roads around here that will let you go over 100mph safely... :-/

well - in most of the cases it's the idiots around you that kill you. for example people that pull over to the left lane without watching what's coming from behind. i wouldn't recommend driving that fast when the roads are not empty

Minte 06-08-2007 09:28 AM

A couple of times :winkwink:

My favorite time to attack the country roads is early in the morning. Usually,I will get up around 5am and run hard for an hour or so. Other than in the deer hunting season I never see any animals on the roads..and rarely any law enforcement.

jact 06-08-2007 09:34 AM

191, once.. Never do it again... friggin scary.

ztik 06-08-2007 09:34 AM

Ive went up to 165mph in a lexus SC

170mph on my bike

too bad i hate getting up early - but especially here in Czech Rep. there's nothing that can't be solved with a little cash if necessary :winkwink:

zeruel 06-08-2007 09:38 AM

sorry to hear that, but you can kill yourself by getting out of the car, stumbling and falling on your head as well

Viper2K1 06-08-2007 10:06 AM

140 once, in a regular mercedes to see how hard it could go
only for a short while, I didn't really enjoy it because it somewhat scared me LOL

ADL Colin 06-08-2007 10:07 AM

I've driven 135 on I-95 in Florida before. I don't think I'll ever drive that fast again.

KimJI 06-08-2007 10:09 AM

Done that, but prefer to do it on my bike instead

Farang 06-08-2007 10:14 AM

~120 mph with my Jeep :pimp

depends on the car a bit of course, but in general i have no problem going that fast. but never ever on a bike. i've been driving a couple of Yamaha XTs and going 80 or 90 mp/h was always fast enough for me

That must have felt like 150 mph anyways :-D
I have had the offroad version of the XT (called TT600r)
It wasn't to comfy going more then 70mph on that bike really.

But on my Sports bikes, the fun starts around 120km/h on the small roads. Going fast in highways are not to fun. I preffere the small twisty roads.

justinsain 06-08-2007 11:08 AM

Around 170 mph.......as a passenger.....in a stock car......at Daytona

MikeG 06-08-2007 11:19 AM

just barely over it...154 in my M3

Tom_PM 06-08-2007 11:22 AM

I did unwillingly once as a passenger. This one friend of mine with a mach1 mustang that his mommy bought for him thought he was cool by passing cars on the righthand shoulder whenever possible at high speed!

I jumped out at the first redlight and called for a ride home. Some people WILL kill themselves in their cars because of the "cool" factor they think is so important.

DirtyDanza 06-08-2007 11:26 AM

ive been well over 200mph on a motorcycle many times... in a car ive driven myself at about 174, 175mph range... passenger I say about 180 185 during the richard pettey driving experience... did not feel much different than when I was driving myself at 175 only difference was I was scared shitless with another driver.. when I was driving you are looking so far ahead and paying attention to so many things you don't have time to be scared....

DirtyDanza 06-08-2007 11:28 AM

the bottom line is this. driving fast is great fun. i do it any cnahce I get but thats on the track... on the roads I speed I won't lie but nothing in the reckless range of passing cars on the shoulder ect ect.. all that shows is lack of experience... if pay attention when your driving just look ahead and you will see the right times to pass at a safe speed

stickyfingerz 06-08-2007 11:28 AM

160 in my Mustang did close to 150 in it all the time. Actually I got clocked at 150 in it. Cop turned out to be a drinking buddy of mine. I got a 15 minute lecture about him not wanting to have to call people in to scrape me off the highway.. lol Used to do 135 all the time on my cbr 600. Thats way more scary than 150 or 160 in a car.

Roald 06-08-2007 11:34 AM

160mph in a TT with a trunk full of lighters to Berlin 2 years ago lol

Scary ;)))

i would have loved a TT600r - i was tempted a couple of times to buy one. but somehow i always got stuck with the XT

had the

XT250
XT550 (very rare, very cool, i think it was a '83 or '84)
XT600

who needs more than one cylinder? :winkwink:

XTuber 06-08-2007 11:56 AM

I've been to 210 in my Talon a few times, but that was KPH.

PaulB IYP 06-08-2007 12:04 PM

yes in a GT3

pr0 06-08-2007 12:06 PM

140 in a honda civic, once, when it was brand new (8k miles) on I-95 with a slight downhill slope

never again........

JamesK2 06-08-2007 12:10 PM

Yes, but only as a passenger :1orglaugh

Sometimes two are nice, but one is more fun, and the sound is great. I had a old Supertrap exchaust on it with a brutal sound. I love the sound of big onecylinder bikes, and the lowrpm power is so much more fun, than having to rev 14.000 rpm

Im looking at building a new supermoto at the moment, but have not desided what bike to build it on. Was looking at the Kawa kle500 that use a real smooth twin paraless engine, wich would be nice on the road. I would stip it of all the plastic and mount some 172 wheels and breaks from a Fireblade.

But I like the engine and hardware on the Kawa KLX650 with the big one Cyl engine, and amazing suspention. Would be tough to ride on the road for hours, but it moves so well offroad

the zx14 is a big heavy ugly beast.... my R1 topped at 214 on flat... we had a busa at 226 on the track before I lost a radiatior hose.. (I think 2 drops of pee came out when that happend) fucking scary...

( my yellow 600 the one on http://danzabucks.com ) is geared up so much it says 112 when I am doing 30 hahahah

bDok 06-08-2007 12:22 PM

fastest i've gone is around 130.

you are mistaking Speedo MPH with Real MPH - a R1 can not go 200mph real spead, it takes a much better aerodynamic and more power. Or a extreamly high gearing and 30miles long runway :-D

Heck my old CBR1100 Blackbird showed 345+ kmt when it went 295kmt
(around 185-190mph)

damn, i miss driving bikes :(

but i even rarely drive my car nowadays and it would be a waste to buy one

Brad 06-08-2007 01:33 PM

I've gone 230 Kmh before in an Interga. I doubt that I'll ever hit tht speed again unless it's in Europe. I'd love to get out in a real sports car and see what that kind of speed feels like. I was going 230 for about ten minutes and it was a fight to keep the car in control. I don't think it was designed to go that fast really considering the needle was buried.

aico 06-08-2007 01:36 PM

My land speed record is 175mph on my GSX-R

80-90 is like our cruising speed when on the backroads.
for some reason it feels really slow. 150 feels about right :helpme

fuzebox 06-08-2007 01:41 PM

Around 170mph in my old supra... Wasn't that scary at all, nice big ass heavy car :)

yes sometimes you do get off spedo readings but you gotta trust the ole radar gun and math.. time from point a to point b... thats why I remarked in my post about how my 600 will read quadruple what I am going.. because of gearing... my R1 is 1 up in the front and 3 down in the back

which is same as 6 down in the back... better top end...

for stunting I go oppisite 1 down at least 15up in the rear so I don't stall when doing slow stuff with no throtle hand...

for those who didn;t follow I am talking the teeth on the gears in the front and back.....

PS blackbirds are fun bikes to ride but not the fastest bikes on the streets... the new gsxr 1000 will stomp anything I have ridden light to light... the busa will not catch the 1000 till at least 150mph then the busa pulls on it... the busa is not a light to light bike it's a sport cruiser

nokriy 06-08-2007 01:45 PM

topped out a boxter at 120mph, friggin pos

had my 97 vw gti 2.0 up to 120 a couple times, cruising speed in south florida for that was 80-85

94 TT supra 130mph, but it had plenty left in it

bonkerz2007 06-08-2007 02:41 PM

160 in a modded nsx, abandoned airport ... i could actually feel the car sinking closer to the ground.
