The September 11 Events on DVD

CNN is releasing a DVD about the events.

Ok, we've seen the footage a million times and now they want to make money out of it? Don't you find it sickening?

"A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund to provide education assistance to victim's families"

CNN and Time Inc. Home Entertainment will contribute 5% of gross wholesale revenue, less returns, from the sale of each copy of America Remembers to the Families of Freedom Scholarship FundŽ

I get sick everytime I see a photo of one of the planes crashing into the WTC. It's sad.

hahmike 08-27-2002 01:30 PM

doesn't matter whether it is wrong or right to them... they're an "entertainment" company ("Time Home Entertainment") there to make money regardless of morals. morals can be applied to anything at any time. many might find it distasteful, or say that 5% isn't suitable... but hey, that's life!

Fletch XXX 08-27-2002 01:32 PM

I bet it goes for more than the average DVD hehehe

35.99 in a silver box with a little flag napkin and a coin.

And Bleeding Heart ring

:stoned

hahahah

I can't belive cnn is trying to make more of a profit off the wtc events. They should atleast be donating more like 95% of the profits to charity, not a measly 5% :ak47:

Nina 08-27-2002 01:38 PM

that's really gross. :(

salsbury 08-27-2002 01:50 PM

join me!!

B40 08-27-2002 01:55 PM

It's 5% of gross revenues, not profit. BIG difference.

They are donating more than 5% of profits..

Dildozer 08-27-2002 01:59 PM

CNN is the american governement's puppet. All they're releasing is just another form of propaghanda to get the people angry and agree with their upcoming Iraq invasion.

PaulSweet 08-27-2002 02:23 PM

Theo 08-27-2002 03:52 PM

Finally! 9/11 had some of the best TV I've ever seen...drama, violence, death, fire, explosions, new yorkers running for their lives, speechless newscaster robots....it was great!

All that was missing was boobs and butts.

That's absurd and you know it. This isn't Russia or China, our media outlets are independent from the government, and they're all driven by profits, not the governments agenda.

Anyone who has the ability has tried to make a buck off of Sept. 11th. There are probably 1000 books out already on the subject, and all the networks are going to spend all their time running Sept 11th tribute programming the day before and the day of Sept 11th. It's the american way to make money at every opportunity, capitalism at it's finest.

No offense, but I'm sick of hearing the phrase 9/11. Let it rest, don't ever talk about it again. And for the love of god, airlines, stop blaming your failing businesses on it.

9-11 was a lame excuse by an awful lot of companies to have layoff's. Even before the attack a lot of places were laying people off. They used this to get rid of even more. Only they'd have a valid excuse this time. Too bad so many people bought it.

:thumbsup Very true. September 11 and the events that followed was the most fun I've had watching TV for a long time!

PornoDoggy 08-27-2002 08:11 PM

The writer George M. Cohen (Yankee Doodle Dandy) once said "Many a bum show has been saved by the flag." CNN putting it out doesn't bother me near as much as the politicians of either party trying to capitalize on it.

Hey - am I the only one that wants to hurl when I hear the friggin' term "first responder?"

drops 08-27-2002 08:33 PM

Personally, I would buy it..

But this is fucked up..

:BangBang: :ak47: CNN

pff.... 5% is dog shit.

chodadog 08-27-2002 08:55 PM

That's sickening. You'd think they'd arrange it so they made enough to break even, and gave all the profit to charity. Five percent is pathetic. Absolutely sickening that someone could look at the events of Sept. 11 and think "Shit, i could go and make some money out of this, by making people think i'm actually helping!"
