Americans are dumb

After watch Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader I can say that the US educational system sucks. A TEACHER and ROCKET SCIENTIST can't even last 4 questions and they even got to use cheats. Hell, both missed the first question and only played on because their 10 year old helper got the answer right.

munki 06-07-2007 06:04 PM

Broad sweeping generalizations are pretty damn smart though... especially when based on a for entertainment, comedy show...

fris 06-07-2007 06:05 PM

Americans are pretty stupid I agree

Sosa 06-07-2007 06:05 PM

lol my wife is watching it now. She asked if I wanted to watch it and was like umm no!

Teacher missed

All birds are mammals True or False

Mount Kilimanjaro is in what continent. Ironically his own students that he brought along knew the answer.

Yes yes. If I was on that show I would miss on purpose and blow a chance at $1 million. Not to mention America had a huge game show fixing scandal in the 50's and the networks know better than to try that again.

Grade school is spent learning stuff you'll use only in trivia games. This show is proof of that.

Did I say the game was fixed? I meant more that their bios are fake.

acctman 06-07-2007 06:49 PM

I drive the Mass Pike daily, and that is pretty stupid and dangerous...

But, I do at least know not to watch "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader".

kane 06-07-2007 07:15 PM

The reality is you could take people from any country in the world and put them on show like this that covered topics covered by their country's education system they would do the same.

They pick strange and obscure questions about things that you learn in 5th grade and have often forgotten by 8th grade because it is stuff most people will never really use in their lives. Sure some of the questions are normal, but most are manipulated so that the people have very little chance of winning. The idea behind the show is to make fun of people. You could do the same thing in any country in the world.

well I'm an American and this is an American show with American on it. Now if watch a show based in the UK with Brits on and it and I said "Brits are stupid" the all the Eurotrash would be all over me. Americans here that are offended are probably stupid, beause the smart ones know they are smart and agree with me.

I would say that people in general are stupid, not just Americans or any people from any other country.

I would guess you could take anyone and put them on that show and have them not get all the answers.

dogfart-movies 06-07-2007 08:00 PM

lol hahahahaha rock on! dumbest question i saw someone get wrong on a brit quiz was what is the closest planet to the sun and they said mars.

Exactly, I don't live in Indiana, why the fuck would I know or want to keep that invaluable piece of information stored in my knoggin??

escorpio 06-07-2007 08:08 PM

I think a lot of people freeze up because of nerves.

SPACE GLIDER 06-07-2007 08:11 PM

What I want to know is what grade do you have to be in to realize the fact that the show is phony and rigged?

It's not that hard. I guess people choose to be ignorant.

shekinah 06-07-2007 09:21 PM

Are you trying to claim you knew all the answers to the questions on the show?

You tell me how I can profit from knowing that information and I'll learn...until then shut the fuck up about this shit...ridiculous ass thread man, creating a generalization from a fucking game show, that's real ignorance right there.

Joe Harlot 06-07-2007 09:56 PM

I've seen that show too some americans really sucks.

Nismo 06-07-2007 10:02 PM

When you work for 20 years doing bio chemistry or engineering rockets for space travel, and you have a wife, kids, work 5-6 days a week/60hrs a week, you tend to forget what great lake borders Indiana.

They keep missing easy questions the same way you keep spelling easy words incorrectly and can't even construct a sentence that makes sense.

I see the lake every couple of months and would have to guess at the name because it isn't that important.

LOL if I lived or visited the area often, not sure I would have to guess at the name. But the point is the same. Most of the things asked on the show are items you literally haven't heard/thought of since the 5th grade.

As with anything in school or life. The less you use something the less you remember it. I would say most things I learned at UF were probably forgotten after a year or two at most. Now if I opened a book it would jog the memory a lot faster than if I had not been taught it in the first place, but that doesn't change the fact that I would probably fail most exams I got A's and B's on if they tested me on the spot just a year later with no prep time.

Which great lake borders indiana is a 1st grade geography question???? Not for my first grader.

Not a hard question, but please..... do you know all 5 lakes and everything that borders them?

Well, they just call it "the lake" . . . not really sure that the name has been told to me.

Is it Michigan?

It does suck. Sad but true ...

If you're not fortunate enough to get a good teacher in the public school system ( at least in Los Angeles County ) "your" fucked ...

Not to mention the PC factor in our schools. A teacher got fired recently for taking her students on a trip to a museum where a breast was displayed.:smilie_we

And why would anyone think we were dumb when we have such a great speaker for a leader ...
