Increasing membership prices
I've had the same membership price for 3 years but now I'm offering twice the amount of content every month as I was 3 years ago. I'm contemplating a fair percentage to raise the paysite's membership but unsure how it'll affect sales.
How have price increases affected your sales, what prices are you charging per month, and how much were you charging before the increase? Any feedback would be appreciated. |
in the past 18 months, we haven't changed our pricing from $24.95/month. i thought about going to $29.95 but sales are good and i don't want to rock the boat.
IMO, going from $19.95 to $24.95 is a bigger psycological jump than going from $24.95 to $29.95. i know sites that have gone above the $29.99 price and have had a significant decrease in sales. if i were you, i would check out other similar sites and see what they charge. i think you would have to have a ton of porn with very frequent updates or have something really unique in order to justify any price over $29.99. but that's just my opinion. |
I was worried about increasing prices, but so far everytime I've done it sales increase....I don't understand either, except there maybe the fact the clients don't trust something too cheap.

You may want to not change your basic rate but offer a three month discount rate for, say, 50 bucks. That way, you get a bigger chunk of cash up front to cover the hit that new customers always bring. It worked for me.

Thanks for the advice. I'm debating whether to do a $5 dollar increase or possibly $7. Right now the price is at $14.95, which is too low for all the original content. I think 24.95 is a fair price but doing a $10 dollar increase seems a bit steep for one price jump.
