I wouldn't use any of those unless you're prepared for some development expenses.

clip-share is just about the best commercial option out there right now, but they're kinda shady to deal with.

I'd stay away from alstrasoft for sure. Well, they're both pirates and they both intentionally sabatoge their own "opensrc" code (that you just bought and downloaded) so unless you know what you're doing, pay a programmer or pay the developer, you'll never get it installed.

A flvplayer is another expense you'll need to lay out, but not very expensive. I can get you anything you need for any of these. I know these scripts pretty well and I have some pretty good core developers working for me.

Whatever you use, no matter. You have to work on it.

I have a youtube clone I'll sell you and install for $50 bucks WITH an unbranded FLVPlayer already included ;)

(And you can charge for upload accounts, or not).

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the 5 - 15 minute members area videos on these clone sites..

Well, that's an administration problem, not a script problem.

Those are the same ppl who'll be going out of business for having their phpupload and postsize set to 200M instead of maybe 10M max and for offering all those big fat free streaming flvs on their own bandwidth instead of trying to get their surfers over to the sponsor's tour ;).

I see some full size video's on there from TCG.. watermarks cut out. Guys like that should be sued, if that doesn't help a nice visit from Vinnie & Paulie.

I use alstrasoft without any issues

Who installed it?

I ask because I know for a fact that their config file (and clip-share too) has been modified so it's impossible for the average person to read their install docs and install the thing out of the box.

We had myself and 3 other experienced admins messing with it until I found one of their ex-devs to work for me.

I can't get any decent support out of either company unless I ask them about buying something, even then, it's spotty.

I think those 2 scripts are about the best commercial ones available right now anyhow, but I had to hire my own coders to work on some advanced issues on both scripts, newest versions.

Well, my new server admin is an ex core developer for C-S and he's writing a brand new script from scratch, I really like the way it's coming out.

I would definitely recommend something like that before buying another one of those 2 choices, especially if I didn't know what I already do know now, about that little deal. Those 2 guys are too busy fighting between themselves to support their products.

I have 2 products from Alstra. I had to pay someone to work on both of them and I've written, modified or installed around a thousand php scripts I bet.

Open 'em up and look under the hood one time. I think they're both pirates and that they paid someone for every original keystroke, and there ain't that many of those even ;)
