I'm Starting To Think 50 Cent is a GENIUS!!

First of all he bought into Glaceau... He bought 10% of the company and then Coca Cola bought it last week for 4.1 Billion... Yes I did say 4.1 BILLION dollars!
http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00009211.html

Big corporations are fighting over him to endorse their products tooth and nail
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4813912.stm

Then he bought Mike Tyson's old house for 4.1 Million... He's now selling it for 11 Million
http://www.homesgofast.com/view_news/379/

I really do think he's a genius!! Either that or he has some fucking SMART money managers!

Good on him man! :thumbsup

He sure is.

:)

High Plains Drifter 06-06-2007 03:55 PM

I just read he put $10 million into the Tyson house after he bought it.

MikeVega 06-06-2007 04:01 PM

I know one of his money guys. Mainly a tax shelter guy and he is into everything and sets himself up right. He is currently building a home on Long Island about a mile from me. My brother in-law works at the blueprinting place that printed up the blueprints. he said they come in with the stuff they need printed and shadow him while he does it to make sure no copies of the house leak out. he says it's a sick house on the sound but I'm yet to drive by and see how its coming out. I see his Producer Shy-Money all the time at the 7-11. He made it .. Good for him

dude, the lyrics to his song, "The Candy Shop" is clear evidense of unparelleled genius.

"I'll take you to the Candy Shop, I'll let you lick the lolly pop"

Mozart, Beethoven, 50....

I'm sure he has some highly qualified people looking after his financial interests.

acctman 06-06-2007 04:05 PM

smart business choices... while everyone else in Hip-hop is trying to buy basketball teams 50cent is going a different direction.

oh yeah, I see that now. I did read $10 million in the tower of journalism known as People magazine though. 6 million would make a lot more sense.

Good for him! ;)

Masterchief 06-06-2007 04:16 PM

50 cent did not get 400 million from the Glaceau sale. His stake was in his "Formula 50" brand, not 10% of the entire company. He gets $1-$3 per case of formula 50 sold.

and i'm not a hater or anything, just putting the facts out there..

Pete-KT 06-06-2007 04:30 PM

very nice, good for him

starpimps 06-06-2007 04:32 PM

Really? All the press said 10% of the STOCK.

Where do you get your facts?

dynastoned 06-06-2007 04:39 PM

fuck 50 cent rich or not.

aico 06-06-2007 04:42 PM

ya, I'm sure he made all those decisions, cuz people never hire other people to handle their money and investments.

Pornwolf 06-06-2007 04:42 PM

50 is a smart guy. A lot of people have certain prejudices that make them believe a rapper, a black guy from the hood, could never make a wise investment.

I heard recently that the folks from V Water said he didn't get $400 mil. He still got a lot, but it wasn't close to $400m.

He also didn't invest more than $1m of his cash so whatever he got worked out well for him.

Yeah...no reputable press ran the story. The whole thing was a rumor started by interscope/g-unit to increase his album awareness. Eventually Glaceau came out and said that the details were not correct.

And as to how I know, I know from someone that worked over at glaceau in marketing.

Yep, I think he just has smart people managing his money for him.

mortenb 06-06-2007 05:59 PM

What about Master P? 50 might have surpassed him money wise, but I doubt that 50 made a lot of the business deals himself. I'm sure he has money people to handle that stuff.

Master P was one of the first rappers to really branch out into other industries and is worth in the region of 400 million$ and he made his fortune himself.

Sly 06-06-2007 06:05 PM

Whether he made the business decisions or not really doesn't matter... one can call him smart for hiring someone to handle his money. Many do not. A smart man will hire smarter people than himself.

I doubt he is, but his financial advisors are.

jimb 06-06-2007 07:09 PM

50 Cent has financial planners up the ass. Doubt he even has a say in anything.

I would assume someone from Smith Barney or Goldman Sachs is managing his wealth.

And Jay-Z is much more wealthy than 50 Cent at the current moment in net worth. Rocca Wear alone was valued at over $500 million per year in net revenue, the stake that Jay-Z commands in that company would far surpass 50 Cent's Glaceau stock move. Not to mention Jay-Z's ownership in Def Jam, Rocca Fella, and various other businesses.

His stake the record businesses were never worth more than $30 million... but he recently sold a huge stake in Roc A Wear for $204 million.

Plus his endorsement deals in the past year add around 7 million plus a $3 million minimum salary from Def Jam.

He's doing well.

Puff Daddy, Eminem, Russell Simmons and possibly Nelly all have more though.

Agreed. I doubt he made the decisions on his own. If you have money it's wise to consult with people who can help you manage it better. It's like setting up an account at the bank. The bank financial advisor may not be "smarter" than you (or they may be) but what's important is that they're specialists in that area with more experience so they know what accounts give you the best rates and possible investments to give you the best bang for your buck.

It's also why a wealthy person with an iota of common sense can virtually never become poor. Their money is working for them at all times generating more money, even when they're no longer actually working a job or selling goods.

alby_persignup 06-06-2007 07:54 PM

Good for him..I'm sure lots of chicks are luring him.
