Domain Advice

Does anyone know if I could use the word 'sherrif' or 'police' or something to that effect within a domain name?

Rictor 08-26-2002 08:01 PM

You have my permission.

LiveDose 08-26-2002 08:04 PM

Of course but with all the words out there why on earth would you want to taunt law enforcement? I am assuming this is for adult.

BTW "sherrif" would be fine since it isn't a word but I am assuming you meant "sheriff"... lol Not trying to sound like a dick, it just came out that way...

LD:thumbsup

Speaking of law enforcement...

Deputy Dawgy is available.

Go for it. Come on. It's too cute to pass up.

Makingcoin 08-26-2002 08:21 PM

So i will assume that there is no 'law' that states i can not use those words within a domain. As long as I don't impersonate a cop.

dirtyone 08-26-2002 08:22 PM

Assume nothing... that will get you in alot of trouble

Hey Mr. Fiction thanks for your advice... under your teachings I have already sold one domain this week for a nice profit and I that is leading to more people that want to buy domains from me.

Muahhahahahah! :drinkup

Brad

P.S. - Joe is homesick for you and M. I'm considering sending him on a plane out to California... Send the poor boy an E-mail :winkwink:

MrPopup 08-26-2002 08:53 PM

Motherfuckers...if you only knew....I think I'm the only person to ever win a celebrity domain dispute.

If you want to laugh have a read. I spent about 12 hours writing the reponse to this WIPO challenge handled by Canada's largest Law Firm.

People have told me they've estimated the total cost of this challenge to be about $80,000 dollars in billable fees.

I spent 100$ on shipping and stamps.

Complaint

My Response

Decision

MrPopup 08-26-2002 09:00 PM

Highlight:

"Given the overwhelmingly ludicrous response of the complainant, and his unwillingness to act like a normal human being and simply pick up the phone in response to the act of an individual acquiring a Domain name for a mere twelve dollars (USD), it is clear that the complainant is not only incapable of handling his own affairs, but is in no position whatsoever to be a key figure in the shaping of the Canadian media landscape. The respondent humbly requests ICANN to consider the merit of a satirical web site ? the value of which is based upon possession of these domain names - depicting the business ineptitude of the complainant. The complainants actions in this case are similar in scope to many of histories most famous ineffectual leaders. The WIPO and ICANN
must ask themselves why a supposedly knowledgeable figure in a multi-million dollar media-entity like CanWest lacks the foresight, technological wherewithal, and most of all ? simple business aptitude to acquire a Domain name similar to his own given name."

This was such a fun deal.... I never thought I'd win. 'tis the reason I'm trying to go to law school.

THAT, my friend, is the spirit.

MrPopup 08-26-2002 09:03 PM

Okay...not the only reason....but it'll do for you fuckers!

Mr.Fiction 08-26-2002 09:09 PM

Brad please tell Joe I love him! :)

Was referring to Verisgn. Don't really think it matters where you are.

Oh, were you talking about a .ca domain? LOL:1orglaugh
