Oh yes.. any camera you can buy for a buck twenty is going to have an amazing lens.... WTF am I spending 2K for?

DWB 06-06-2007 02:12 AM

If you ask me, it's more the guy taking the pic than the camera. Let someone like Dean Capture shoot with that cam and it's going to turn out pretty bad ass I'm sure. I've seen some pretty amazing pics come from consumer grade cameras. I've also seen guys with 5k cameras who can't take a shot to save their life.

If you don't know what you're doing and want to shoot decent amateur pics, that is fine. No need to get an SLR unless you know what you're doing and want total control of your photo. You're not going to get as fine of a shot as you would with a nice SLR and a nice lens, but if you're just shooting web or personal snap shots, have at it.

i bought that camera when 5mp's costed alot thinking i was buying quality, and after talking with experts, i was told the lense sucked ass

JP-pornshooter 06-06-2007 12:40 PM

this is humorous.. my one camera is $4k without the lens..
thats why we are pros... and i am not saying you cannot get great photos with cheaper equipment, it is all up to the photographer but i figure i will take all the help i can get. and i also do magazine shoots and they want high quality.
i am sure the quality of the lens on this camera matters, but only to a certain extent and not for most people here.

In the End when it comes down to Porfesional photo's Lens does always matter! now as far as pocket cams, lens is also an issue, the glass you use plays a major role in the end product,

The Casio is a great camera with a really good Carl Zeis Lens

A- I was being a smartass... I actually have a $200 point and shoot.. No I wouldn't use it for work because people would laugh at me and models wouldn't take me seriously.. but yes.. it does work. It is also easier to carry that one around at DisneyLand than my pro camera.

B- Dean is good yes... but why do people bow down to him like he is some kind of Greek God (Not saying that you did)? He makes great photos, yes... but you know why??? Equipment and skill. Equal parts. Give Dean this camera.. or any like it.. no lights, no reflectors, no anything.. save for the camera. He will get good shots sure, but nothing like he produces when he has everything at his disposal. I would say the same thing about Suze Randall, Ken Marcus, Stephen Hicks, Stephen Wayda, etc. etc, etc.. myself included. The equipment you have can make a huge difference in what type of images you produce.

American Photo Magazine did a nice series last year. Gave a guy a point and shoot and let him run with it. Great shots. They were really amazing. They even did a series with a camera phone. Part of being a good photographer is knowing what is a good shot (even more important is knowing which pictures to throw away so no one ever sees them!).

Your camera can make all the difference. Yes an $800 camera will most likely take better shots than a $200 camera. Yes the glass will probably be better and have more elements to make for a cleaner picture. If you still choose a crappy picture to shoot, it doesn't matter what you have in your hands.

What does everyone think is the best camera?

tehHinjew 06-06-2007 04:13 PM

nikon........

vidvicious 06-06-2007 04:59 PM

Go with a nikon .. if you stick to the 300 range, you'll get a good camera, small and compact, Enough mega pixels to print posters if you wanted ...
but best of all it will have some cusom and manual settings which will allow you to experiment and really enjoy digital photography

tehHinjew 06-06-2007 06:53 PM

cannon a640
http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-Canon-PowerSh...QQcmdZViewItem
or
nikon p5000
http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-Nikon-Coolpix...ayphotohosting

this guy has the lowest prices on ebay for cameras

JP513 06-06-2007 08:02 PM

This is a cheap point and shoot. For that category of camera, yeah it's probably fine. But you're not shooting high end porn with this type of cam. Great lens? No. But whatever, it's fine for what it is. And the price is right!:thumbsup

JP-pornshooter 06-07-2007 10:07 AM

hey butfuk, no name calling here..
if ya just want to take it for snaps, go for the casio..great pos. i have one to take on vacations etc, works great.

tehHinjew 06-07-2007 01:54 PM

no name calling just a term i like to use

Cypherpunk 06-07-2007 02:43 PM

i prefer cannon to nikon. cannon also make better lenses especialy in the high end of the market.
But saying that I have shot a lot of good stuff on a Nikon D50.
If you get an SLR from either you cant go far wrong.

Just dont be fooled by all these 8MP or 10MP pocket cam things they are gonna come nowhere near even a cheap SLR.

So let's try this backwards : Check out the pics in here (WARNING ! No Tits) and tell me what camera they were shot with (or fail that, guess how much it cost).

I'm curious.

alternatively, here for close-ups. still no tits.
