Well I always kinda figured I'd get cancer, just not at age 38.
A very few of you may know I went in for some tests last week. Well, I got the results this morning. I told a few people this morning but the rumor mill has already resulted in too god damn many icq message so Imma spill it myself.
I have something called "occult stage" lung cancer. It essentially means that the tumor(s) are still microscopic (I guess) and can not be detected via an x-ray or Ct. They are however, finding the big C cells in my "sputum" (That sounds dirty). Anyway, next week I begin PDT treatment and hopefully won't ever get to the stage of requiring surgery or chemo. It was caught VERY VERY early so my haters can fuck off and not starting planning road trips to piss on my grave just yet. Donations: I am happily accepting sympathy blowjobs and compassion fucks, but don't expect me to come on here whining about money. I have sorta decent insurance which should cover most of it. Fuck off now, I have work to do. |
Do you smoke?

Ok, hope you get good response from the PDT

38 is a bit too young.... It is good you found it so early though. May I ask what test found it?
Kind Regards, Les |
God Bless.

Good thing ya caught it early. I'm sure you'll be subject to a speedy treatment and recovery process.
Good luck on the quitting. For me, Altoids were a life-saver. |
wow, great attitude though
why did you go to the doctors? did you notice any symptoms? |
good luck.. stop smoking people...
|
good luck man, cancer is evil :( but at least they found it early, makes for better odds for you
I hope you make a full recovery, and good luck quitting the sticks! :) |
Personally I think anyone whom still smokes in this day and age is a idiot.
I think they should put a $1 a pack tax on cigarettes as a medical tax for all the money it's costs tax payers due to people not having insurance. |
Hang in there Jim. Seeing my girls mom rebound after her body being being eaten up by Cancer gives me some hope. There are a TON of new treatments out there that really give the "Big C" a run for it's money.
|
my mother died on the 20th (2 days before my bday) of lung and liver cancer. this is one of those situations where words just won't suffice but words are all a person has.
keep a positive attitude and realize that it's never too late to make adjustments that suit YOU. and make sure you go through all the treatments the doctors "highly" recommend and enjoy every single day. it sounds like they caught it in time and i hope you pull through this with flying colors. :) |
good luck Jim.
Check out this site, I have know of a few people that did this and it worked wonders. http://www.cancure.org/budwig_diet.htm |
Hey Jim,
There is evidence that marijuana smoke may be linked to smokers NOT getting lung cancer. Maybe time to put down the cigarette and pick up a fat joint |
Wow, glad they caught it in the early stages
|
best wishes man....all about positive mental attitude
|
Catching it that early dramatically increases the odds of eradicating the cancer eventually and recovering to full health much quicker. Seems like you have a positive attitude, keep it up and stop the cigs.
|
Sorry to hear you are sick. Hopefully that got it soon enough!!
Are you going to InterNext? Maybe you can set up a blowjob donation booth!! :winkwink: |

Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection By Marc Kaufman Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, May 26, 2006; A03 The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer. The new findings "were against our expectations," said Donald Tashkin of the University of California at Los Angeles, a pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years. "We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use," he said. "What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect." Federal health and drug enforcement officials have widely used Tashkin's previous work on marijuana to make the case that the drug is dangerous. Tashkin said that while he still believes marijuana is potentially harmful, its cancer-causing effects appear to be of less concern than previously thought. Earlier work established that marijuana does contain cancer-causing chemicals as potentially harmful as those in tobacco, he said. However, marijuana also contains the chemical THC, which he said may kill aging cells and keep them from becoming cancerous. Tashkin's study, funded by the National Institutes of Health's National Institute on Drug Abuse, involved 1,200 people in Los Angeles who had lung, neck or head cancer and an additional 1,040 people without cancer matched by age, sex and neighborhood. They were all asked about their lifetime use of marijuana, tobacco and alcohol. The heaviest marijuana smokers had lighted up more than 22,000 times, while moderately heavy usage was defined as smoking 11,000 to 22,000 marijuana cigarettes. Tashkin found that even the very heavy marijuana smokers showed no increased incidence of the three cancers studied. "This is the largest case-control study ever done, and everyone had to fill out a very extensive questionnaire about marijuana use," he said. "Bias can creep into any research, but we controlled for as many confounding factors as we could, and so I believe these results have real meaning." Tashkin's group at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA had hypothesized that marijuana would raise the risk of cancer on the basis of earlier small human studies, lab studies of animals, and the fact that marijuana users inhale more deeply and generally hold smoke in their lungs longer than tobacco smokers -- exposing them to the dangerous chemicals for a longer time. In addition, Tashkin said, previous studies found that marijuana tar has 50 percent higher concentrations of chemicals linked to cancer than tobacco cigarette tar. While no association between marijuana smoking and cancer was found, the study findings, presented to the American Thoracic Society International Conference this week, did find a 20-fold increase in lung cancer among people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day. The study was limited to people younger than 60 because those older than that were generally not exposed to marijuana in their youth, when it is most often tried. |
Smoking makes you look cool though. :upsidedow

Get better Jim! |

What about me who vaporizes, hmm.... probably 1-2 times on a weekend and rarely during the week? I've never smoked cigarettes and I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. I could probably whup your ass at chess while stoned too. ;) Actually Franck, for me, marijuana, caffine, and rizatriptan cure my migraine headaches when I get them. Marijuana use, like any drug, is not bad. It's the ABuse that will fuck you over. ABuse of anything, porn, gambling, alcohol, drugs, is bad, where as I believe that the use of almost anything is ok as long as you don't abuse it. Sorry for the hijack Jim, hope everything goes well with you man. :) |
Im sorry to hear this jim, hopefully you can recover.
|
Best wishes dude! Good luck in the recovery efforts. Catching it early is key.
|
bummers to hear. good luck with it all.

Need a cig?
