NBA FINALS - Who Will Win and Why?

So who does everyone like and why.

I'm taking the Cavs all the way. They played the Spurs twice during the regular season and won both games. I know the playoffs are different and the Spurs always step it up but just like the Cavs beat an experienced team in Detroit, they'll do the same to the Spurs.

Mr. Mojo Risin 06-04-2007 07:49 AM

Spurs 4-2

Spurs are a much better team

I would say sweep, but Cavs won the regular season

patmunar 06-04-2007 07:54 AM

Spurs... :thumbsup

Don't you see the Spurs as a similar team to the Pistons?

Good defense and veteran players. I think the youth of Cleveland is actually an advantage this time.

I can honestly say that the only team I feel is better than the Cavs is the Suns. I'm still trying to figure out how the Spurs got past them.

Oh man, what a sad post. I am going to be in Phoenix on the 16th, I need to enlighten you.

Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli, the 3-headed monster + Bowen and company + Popovich = championship. One of the best power fowards ever and a great coach(w/3 championships and a lot of experience) is going to beat Lebron(who's getting better and being more aggressive), some luck and "Boobie".

The Suns were unlucky in their series with The Spurs. Nash got hurt at the end of game 1 and couldn't finish, then Stoudemire was out, etc. It could have gone the Suns way easily. The Spurs will "do anything" to win, including throwing elbows, etc. Ginobili turns it on when it matters...

alby_persignup 06-04-2007 08:51 AM

Cavs will win Anyway!:1orglaugh

This is very true. That series had a lot of things happen that made a huge impact on the series. They play that series again without the suspensions and dirty play, I say the Suns win time and time again.

Ginobili is the main factor in the finals. The Cavs match up very well with the Spurs. Thats why the beat them both times during the regular season but Manu is awesome and when he gets hot, he can't be stopped.

Its really not that sad. In a series who else can beat them?

Maybe the Bulls but they are inconsistant. Who else is better in a series?

Just to comment on this ... isn't that what everyone said about Detroit? Chuncy, Rasheed, Prince, Webber, Rip ... one of the best starting 5 in the league. They too have been champions and top contenters for years. Just about everyone thought that Detroit would roll the Cavs and look what happened. The Cavs won 4 straight to win the Eastern Conference Finals.

Between Z and Andy, Timmy boy is going to get frustrated and not have a big series. And you saw how Boobie played Rip who is one of the fastest guards in the league. If you don't think Boobie can run with Parker than you're not seeing the truth. :2 cents:

Zuzana Designs 06-04-2007 09:27 AM

I'm going with the cavs cause they have heart :) And I love Lebron

D-Money 06-04-2007 09:28 AM

D-Money's honest take.

The Spurs are the better all around team, the Cavs have to step up (at least one other guy then LeBron and in this case, maybe 2).

The factor is LeBron.

IF he's truly ready for greatness, he'll find a way to get the win when they matter the most. Jordon, Bird, Magic all found a way. They also had better teams then the Cavs. But none of them were the size of LeBron. He's the Shaq of forwards mixed with guard at 6'8, 250. Ever see the poster of him slamming over Duncan? Don't worry, you'll see version 2.0 in the Finals.

I think he's figured it out and is ready for this to be his time.

The part I love most, the Cavs have a legendary team to beat, which makes victory even sweeter (if the Cavs are so lucky).

LeBron is unstoppable.

MetaMan 06-04-2007 09:30 AM

I am taking the Spurs but i would not be surprised if the Cavs take it, they came back and gave detroit a beating.

But Spurs are a DEEP team and i do not see them falling about like Detroit, they have 3 players on the court that can drop 30 a game no problem.

Cory W 06-04-2007 09:31 AM

Adam,

The Suns are not a series team, they would however be outstanding in a sweet 16 setup.

You in town the 16th?

I really need to get to work but I feel like you and Adam are drawing me into debates!

I am picking the Cavs, and not just because of Lebron. So many other reasons.

Sublim3 06-04-2007 09:34 AM

i would say.. its 4-1 for the spurs

sniperwolf 06-04-2007 09:37 AM

I think Lebron will carry the Cavaliers to win the finals...actually he lead the team to the playoffs and i think he will be more enthusiast to get the trophy..

Going to be in Portland for a week and a half. Sorry I'm going to miss you.

And I do love talking hoops with you. You are one of the smarter guys out there. You're right about the Suns though. They are inconsistant.

Well, I can get into the match ups, I like Clevelands big guys and board dominance. Second chance points will be huge. The Cavs will probably shoot around 40% while the Spurs will probably shoot 45%. So the Cavs must dominate the boards, which I think they will.

And our little boobie, he's just shooting the ball which is exactly what a young rookie having fun should do. It's when they think to much about how big the game is, that's a miss.

I picked the Cav's in 7.

Rodent 06-04-2007 11:18 AM

Spurs 4-2 .....Bowen hacks the hell out of Boobie, game over... unless LeBron scores 50 a night.

Rodent 06-04-2007 11:28 AM

And I do hope it is a good series w/o the refs controlling everything. If this is LeBrons coming out party, no bigger stage to do it on.

You really think 7? I don't know. That means the Cavs would have to win the final game of the series in San Antonio. If it goes to 7 games, I like the Spurs. Thats why I picked the Cavs in 6. Win at home just like they did against the Pistons.:2 cents:

What about Z? He's got a huge advantage over Elson. He could go off.

TGVinny 06-04-2007 08:03 PM

I want the Cavs to win! I want to see King James dominate, his performance against the Pistons was amazing, I haven't seen anything that dominant since Jordan!

As you can tell the Cavs bandwagon is full, some will have to jump on the Spurs bandwagon.

bushwacker 06-05-2007 02:09 PM

spurs in 5, take it to the bank.

King Adam 06-06-2007 07:22 AM

I want to know who voted for a sweep by either team. There is not a chance in hell that either team will sweep the other.

viencarl 06-06-2007 07:47 AM

Spurs will win hehehe vote now GFY'ers

viencarl 06-06-2007 07:48 AM

Spurs will win hehehe

Der Schleicher 06-06-2007 08:06 AM

even though cavs is a one man team, i still go for lebron :)

marko13 06-06-2007 08:11 AM

cavs will loose first 2 in a row.. and will win next 4 in a row... it is very simple....

NTSS 06-06-2007 05:52 PM

Cavs 4-1

We steal one of the 1st two in San Antonio then sweep them at the Q to close out the series and win our 1st ever NBA title!

Keep in mind that we out-played Detroit all 6 games of that series and beat them 4 in a row to take it. Any team that can beat the Pistons 4 games straight is virtually unbeatable. Not even the Spurs could have done that.

SomeCreep 06-06-2007 06:19 PM

I'd like for the Cavs to win the finals, but I believe the Spurs are going to kick their little monkey asses.

Spurs 4-2 :2 cents: Spurs are to technically sound and have alot of experience

4-3 or 4-2 Cavs will win :)

shageman 06-07-2007 05:28 PM

cavs win they have the team to do it, yes they beat the spurs this season but lost the last 16yrs to them, plus spurs havnt lost a final yet, and also the cavs are not a one man team, the pistons thought that and tripled up on him and left the other guns opened, i dont know how you have a one man team when you have the best bench in the NBA. Lets go CAVS

bushwacker 06-07-2007 05:31 PM

spurs in 5, tony gets whacked by phil and paulie in the last episode of sopranos

SilkyJohnson 06-07-2007 05:36 PM

Cavs are not that good and are not experienced enough to beat the Spurs.

The Cavs have no answer for Tony Parker
The Cavs have no answer for Tim Duncan
The Cavs have no answer for Manu Ginobilli

The Cavs will not win the Finals, they'll be lucky to win 2 games.

The Spurs only have to worry about one person and that's LeBron, they can single cover everybody else, nobody but LeBron can command a double team. Bruce Bowen and Manu Ginobilli are going to frustrate the hell out of LeBron for at least the 1st 2-3 games. By then it'll be too late and they'll be down 3 or 2 to 0.

Spurs in 6 is my prediction.

g$$$ where you at?? It's time for some bets!

Running with someone and guarding them in a 1-on-1 situation is totally different. Rip isn't the type of player that has a lot of great 1-on-1 moves, he runs around and plays the screen game. Parker has a lightening quick 1st step to go with a good crossover. Boobie ain't gonna be able to keep him out of the paint.

If i was to put money on it yeah i would take the Spurs. But i would love to see my boy with a ring so young in his career. But Cavs cant match up with skill and experience. I just hope this goes to game 7 and all the games are close.

Cavs need to drive to the basket alot in the first half and put the spurs in foul trouble early. Watch for alot of zone defense from the Spurs the first half.

And the Spurs have no answer for Lebron or Z.

And I think Gibson is going to surprise you. I think he can guard Parker. The only guy that worries me is Manu Ginobli. He is sick and when he gets hot, he can't be stopped.

Duncan is good too but he doesn't jump really. With Drew on him and then a double team, Duncan will be slow to get points and have to pass out to the open guy.

i hope Cavs!

Gooden's D is weak, Duncan will pick him apart while he's in the game and then in will be floppin' ass Varejo guarding him and he won't be able to do it either. Duncan will have a big series and be MVP again.

Parker is gonna blow by Gibson, that kid is gonna be out there at the top of the key all alone against Parker one of these times and feel that doubt set in with a slice of nervousness and all his confidence is gonna leave his body in one breath. Parker will then proceed to cross him up on his way to the paint for one of his patented floaters.

Ginobilli will be big like he always is slashing to the hole and floppin' around to get calls.

I'm not a Spurs fan as you can tell by the sig, but I believe they will win the Championship.

webair 06-07-2007 06:02 PM

no comment but i know who is going to win =))
