Spoonfeed me please...
 

OK, so i have a directory on a server with my personal mp3's in it...
I want to add a simple index.html page which would have some php in it so as when it loads, it lists, displays and links to the mp3's in the folder.

Nothing fancy, its really just for me... Can someone tell me the php i need to include in the index page? I know its spoonfeeding, but I've had a hell of a day of it, and just wanna get things finished asap...

Its just purly for me... I was looking for a couple of lines of PHP to insert in a blank html page... Nothing fancy... I will probably only use it for a few days or so...

You see, im in the UK, and Im transfering my personal music, from my pc in the states... Cause theres a couple of hundred or so, when i view the folder in ie without an index page, it displays a linked list of each mp3 (just click n play) BUT you cant see the entire title... So i might see
Duran Duran 80's D....
Duran Duran 80's H....
Duran Duran 80's F....
etc... But I cant see the entire name... So I just wanted a quick way to display them...

Can you just use a download manager and download all of the songs?

Yeah, I COULD download them all.. Just FTP into my server at this end, and pull them of... Not a problem.

But I kinda liked the idea of leaving them up there now they are there. That way I can get to my music whenever I want, wherever I am...

I know that this almost sounds kinda dodgy... But its really not. Its just my personal collection for my own use... I'm not trying to start another 'allofmp3.com' on the sly ... :)

I just think that as i am paying for my server anyway, and I have more than enough space and bandwith availible... Why not leave them up there, cause once i click one, it begins playing in wmp straight away... so with no download delay... why bother to download...???

I would have thought this was something pretty simple though really.

I have never needed to do it before, but surely a simple method to get an html page to list the contents of the direcory that its in shouldnt be that hard?

The basic ftp style view in ie without an index would be fine, if it displayed all the title... instaed of just the first 10 letters or so of the name...

If its gonna be a big deal, then please dont worry, its a case of thanks anyway, and I'll just download...

I just thought ythere may be a really easy answer to this :)

All I want it do is to do what internet explorer does anway... But, just have it display the full name...
