So I tried to transfer my domains AWAY from GODADDY

Thank you for contacting Online Support. Unfortunately you will not be able to transfer the domains away as they have just been transferred to us from Registerfly. Newly registered/transferred domain names are locked by the registry for 60 days, during which the domain name cannot be transferred. This lock applies to all domains and all Registrars, not just Go Daddy. It has to do with the way domains are registered and is unavoidable.

After the registry lock expires on the domain name it will be necessary for you to resubmit the transfer request through your intended Registrar in order to move the domain. After you initiate the transfer with the new registrar the following actions will occur:

? The company to which you intend to move a domain will contact Go Daddy requesting we approve the transfer of the domain name.
? Go Daddy will send an email to asking you to confirm your intent to transfer the domain name (this is done to prevent fraudulent transfers).

Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

Sincerely,

Stan P.
Online Support Technician

so are you blaming GoDaddy or RegisterFly?

Jace 06-03-2007 03:46 AM

so, you actually get your domains away from registerfly and into the hands of a trusted and reliable registrar and you still bitch?

DickShoke 06-03-2007 03:50 AM

that sucks....i've run into a few problems myself when trying to transfer domains.

Don't be a dumbass if possible. If you want to moved them after 60 days you can, but I don't know of any registrar that will let you move them within 60 days.

Oh wait, they kind of told you that in their letter, didn't they?

Taass 06-03-2007 04:24 AM

Seems like a fair rule to keep domain thives from moving stolen domains around from one registar to another :2 cents:

Ofcause it sucks if you don't like godaddy.. but still better than if they where still at Registerfly, right ? :)

macromind 06-03-2007 04:36 AM

It has always been like that with all registrars... Nothing new here!

macromind

Brad Mitchell 06-03-2007 05:03 AM

Thats the rule at all registrars now.

Kimo 06-03-2007 05:06 AM

what a shitty thread

cherrylula 06-03-2007 05:36 AM

did godaddy email you your account info? that is at least a good thing.

everblazin 06-03-2007 05:48 AM

Godaddy sucks, NameCheap is what you want.

madawgz 06-03-2007 08:51 AM

Snake Doctor 06-03-2007 09:23 AM

I changed the technical contact for my domains and they wouldn't let me transfer them until 60 days afterwards.

I have everything with Moniker now though.

kaktuz 06-03-2007 09:31 AM

do not try to fuck with the domain authority!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BITCH!

but on a serious side , the 60 days rule is there since like day #1 ,stupid yet still.

Goodings Media 06-03-2007 09:34 AM

I didn't transfer the domains, they were transferred for me, therefor this rule may not apply.

Your high... been with godaddy for 7 years and never had a problem and excellent customer service.

(The 60 day rule does blow goats though)

jonesonyou 06-03-2007 10:27 AM

Never had any issues with godaddy.

esnem 06-03-2007 10:28 AM

that's an ICANN rule, not a godaddy rule

SmokeyTheBear 06-03-2007 10:32 AM

i think alot of people are overlooking the fact he didnt transfer the domains. ICAAN did it for him. thus it shouldnt really have the 60 day hold put on it. He was FORCED to move all his domains to godaddy along with everyone else.

i understand where your coming from oracle.. I dont mind godaddy but having your domains forcefully transfered to a registrar you did not choose is kinda lame to begin with , even lamer that you now have an extra 60 days.

to break it down for others in a simple fashion..

if you just had registered a domain then he may have already waited the 60 days , then he was locked out from doing anything because the registrar went under for XX amount of days , now yet again he wont be able to transfer his domain, in total we could be looking at 4-5 MONTHS with no ability to change the registrar. that is lame .

Enema 06-03-2007 01:03 PM

He had months of notice before RegisterFly finally got canned in which to transfer them to a Registrar of his choice.

The move to GoDaddy was unavoidable and had to be done to all the people that didn't get off their asses and do it themselves before d-day.

I don't imagine there will be any special exceptions.

I guess they were transferred because you couldnt get them out? You should look at it the bright side: They wont go down the drain now as they would if they'd still be with regfly. And there wont happend anything to them in the next 60 days. So just sit back, continue your good work, and place that domain transfer on hold :)

Jace 06-03-2007 10:05 PM

I don't have 1000 domains at godaddy you all! haha

I have had well over 1000 domains in and out of godaddy since I have been a customer

I only have 100 or so in there now

Jace 06-03-2007 10:05 PM

and for all you bitching

godaddy stepped up and SAVED your ass from registerfly, you should be thanking them

yeah, they get some money out of this, sure, but they are also saving me from losing 54 domains

Yup smokey has got it. To be honest Id be a bit pissed off too.

LiveDose 06-03-2007 10:29 PM

It makes sense as a good fraud prevention. 60 days is nothing. Just wait it out.

Have my domains transferred for me to one of the most reputable registrar companies & wait a whopping 60 days, or possibly lose my domains and have to hassle with it myself... hmmm tough choice.

Some people just like to complain.

emthree 06-03-2007 11:17 PM

That's always been the standard rule.
