    have you been to Turkey? might be going in a couple of days

    thinking about spending two days in Istanbul (a friend of mine is going on business so he's going to drop me in Istanbul and pick me up on his way back)


    any tips? what's there to see and do?

                      I spent 2 months there while in college. I fell in love with Turkey. Istanbul is a big city like all big cities...but if you can get into the rest of turkey (the coast, or capadocia) you will love it.

                              I was there 20 years ago and loved it - and all the Turks were great, asking "why do all the Americans go to Greece and not Turkey, we love Americans, tell your friends to come here."
                              not sure as an american jew i'd go back there in 2007 though.....

                                  Went in 2000. Not bad....but, you wont bang any local chicks. It seems the men prefer to keep the talent hidden away, leaving their leathery faced potato peeling grandma's for the tourists instead.

                                  Was going to go to Istanbul in 2002 but someone blew up the building next to the very hotel we were going to stay a few days before departure, naturally we canceled and went elsewhere.

                                  Turkey gets 5/10, needs to try harder.

                                                          elections are on June 21st (if i'm not mistaken). i have no idea what's the situation down there (bomb attacks). i'm going there tomorrow morning and will be there till tuesday. kusadasi is a great place on the coast, it's the middle of mediterranean sea.

                                                          is there anyone from turkey or anyone who has been there lately? i'm really interested is it safe enough for the tourists.

                                                              I've been to Kusadasei in Turkey and I had a great time. The weather is amazing, too hot at times. My friend and his girlfriend are in Marmaris right now and he loves it so far.
