Rapidshare C&D

To whom it may concern,

We only can delete files if we get the direct links to the files on our

Piracy versions of your files could be deleted immediately, provided
that you name the specific RapidShare-URL (
http://rapidshare.de/files/... ) where the file(s) can be downloaded.

Rapidshare is hosted with various backbone providers, not only with Level3.

Matt 26z 06-02-2007 02:04 PM

Rapidshare actually removes stuff very quickly..... assuming you tell them exactly what needs to be removed.

aico 06-02-2007 02:04 PM

so just link to every file on their site and let them sort it out.

They are Swiss and the site is hosted in Germany so I do not think so.

Not at all.

riddler 06-02-2007 02:19 PM

you expect them to try and find specific files out of probably 50-100TB's of files with out a direct link?

I think he expects them to not break the law and be more responsible.

well yeah with any free hosting there is bound to be piracy happening on it, would be hard to police it in my opinion.

Major (Tom) 06-02-2007 04:28 PM

I always have JD Obenberger taking down shit from there. he's sent so many letters to them with great sucess, he practially knows them on a first name basis now. He might be the guy you should to talk to. We've been sending out infringement letters like a parent sending out invites to a sweet 16.
I'm becoming duke skywalkerwitz.

would be very simple to do.. 1 file with trademarked terms , cross referenced to their files , outputs a list of files that need to be removed. done and done.

how do you think youtube removed all the UFC fights so quickly even though they have a petabyte of videos

jonesonyou 06-03-2007 10:41 AM

scary...the power of some.

Mutt 06-03-2007 11:02 AM

you don't even need a C&D letter to get Rapidshare to take anything down - they do it knowing that the files will just be uploaded again. Their whole business is based on copyright infringements and for now they and YouTube and Google think they are protected by the DMCA - that is going to be tested in court by Viacom/CBS.

Exactly. My main gripe is that I have to invest the time to track down all of the videos, and then work up the elaborate DMCA to get them removed. Then later take out more of my time when members complain, point it out, and check again.

Sure, they'll remove it if you track endlessly across all of their .com, .de, and so forth to find them all. People will upload them again, and 6 months from now you repeat the process.

You don't need to. It baffles me that people are still complaining about rapidshare.de and them hosting (stolen) porn content, when it's illegal by German law to have any porn on a German site, without AVS protection. You don't need to go to Level3, you need to address the proper German authorities.

Most likely for the very simple reason that everyone expects someone else to do it. It IS that simple. They are breaking German law, a law by which every .de domain name is required to abide by.

not sure about rapid but don't you have to register first or something like on youtube to access the adult content? Not sure myself as I hardly ever looked into rapidshare myself. I do think its not thats easy though.

DamageX 06-03-2007 02:09 PM

Google site:rapidshare.de + your paysite of choice. You'll see if you have to register or not. Besides, even if you have to register, that doesn't mean they're compliant with the law, since you're not actually verifying your age through registration.

That would be so hard to achieve. They live from the piracy

Youtube didn't seem to have a problem removing all the Comcast videos. :2 cents:

cool1g 06-03-2007 07:06 PM

aren't there websites that let you seach rapidshare and megaupload and others looking for files. maybe program owners should have someone scan daily for newly uploaded infringing files.

Pornwolf 06-03-2007 08:57 PM

Here's some help in searching for rapidshare files:

Click here on Rapidshare & Megaupload search tips.

AND

www.shareminer.com is a multi site search tool that is somewhat useful.

Xplicit 06-03-2007 09:20 PM

Google this...

site:rapidshare.de <insert terms relating to your content here>

This will pull up a list of download URLs.

Barefootsies 06-04-2007 01:42 AM
